System Specs

Great SQ, lots of SPL, computer sound inside

Just picked up some new toys...
Going to have to build a new desk and some new stands but that will come.

For those interested in great sound quality, ultra low noise and great frequency response look no further.

Focusrite Saffire PRO 14 (Firewire audio interface)
Great DAC, excellent preamp. Headphone amp could use a bit more power but oh well.

New monitors are Mackie MR8, with a smidge of EQ work they work very well down into the 45hz area. Without really getting nasty until around 35hz or so.

With 100 watts rms into the 8" and 50 watts rms into the 1" tweeter these things scream as well especially when you consider how close to your face you generally keep near field monitors.

Great big sound from relatively small speakers with nice built in amps, an easy to use firewire interface, what more can you ask for?

I'm using it mainly for production work in Ableton but I listen to a lot of music on my computer as well while I'm working on other things.

So for those always hunting down the most expensive computer speakers and nice internal sound cards.... Spend a few more bucks if it's in the budget and look into something like this.
