Corsair Announces TX V2 Enthusiast PSU Series

Corsair, a worldwide designer and supplier of high-performance components to the PC gaming hardware market, today announced the Enthusiast Series TX V2 power supplies. The Enthusiast Series TX V2 is the successor to the award-winning Enthusiast Series TX power supplies, which have won dozens of awards worldwide and received widespread critical and customer acclaim. The TX V2 PSUs offer improved energy efficiency, with 80 PLUS Bronze certification and European Commission Energy-Related Product (ErP) directive compliance.

The improved efficiency results in lower noise levels than the original TX PSUs under typical usage conditions, and a new DC-to-DC converter design provides tighter voltage regulation, with measurably lower ripple and noise. Features carried over from the acclaimed TX PSUs include the use of Japanese capacitors, enthusiast-grade performance, and a comprehensive fixed cable set that accomodates tall PC chassis and multiple-GPU installations.

jonnyguru website already reviewed this puppy. Seasonic-bulit, like XFX Pro 850W Core Edition.
Good thing though, not like previous TX series which based on CWT PSH unit.

and I believe, the TX is Enthusiast Series, in Corsair language, where the HXs are the Professional Series, and the AXs are the Professional Gold Series.

The rest? CX=Builder Series, GS=Gaming Series, and VX falls into Enthusiast Series too.

Just look at their website.

Enthusiast power supplies don't have to be 80+ Gold certified. Remember, the original TX wasn't even 80+ Bronze, and it was definitely a highly recommended enthusiast power supply. Besides, 80+ Gold is only like a 5% efficiency difference, it isn't anything to worry about, or pay extra for, IMO.

Actually, they really aren't. Jonnyguru reviewed a CX430 and really liked it. It just wasn't as good as the CX400, which is why they catch a bad rap, but for inexpensive power supplies for basic builder grade computers they are really good.

The only 80+ Silver one was the TX950, in fact that was the only 80+ Silver PSU corsair produced. I believe the TX950 was actually based on a different platform from a different OEM than the rest of the TX line as well.

Looking at Jonnyguru's reviews of the old and new TX850s, these new power supplies are definitely more efficient.

Really? From what I heard, a lot of the units were dying or having problems shortly after installation. Maybe Newegg got a crappy batch or something.

Well if you are going by newegg reviews, it is probably because people reviewing products on newegg are usually idiots. They probably blew because they put a CX430 in trying to power SLI GTX570s or something...

Overall though, the CX430 is a great PSU for the price point, especially if you get a good deal with the mail in rebates, they take a while, but they do come. I just recieved mine last week from a CX430 I bought the first week of December.

Correct Corsair is known to downrate there PSU because 80+ gold or Silver at 25c wont pass silver or gold etc. at 40c thus they passed the 80% test higher then there rated for, This way theres no way to refute the claim that they are as EFFICENT as stated

crazyeyesreaper Chief Broken Rig Join Date: Mar 2009 Location: 04578 Posts: 6,010 (3.96/day) Thanks: 760 Thanked 2,219 Times in 1,556 Posts System Specs	Correct Corsair is known to downrate there PSU because 80+ gold or Silver at 25c wont pass silver or gold etc. at 40c thus they passed the 80% test higher then there rated for, This way theres no way to refute the claim that they are as EFFICENT as stated
