6850 was new or used? If new and you've tried the standard stuff RMA is probably the best route.
Have you tried a fresh windows install as a last resort? If you a have a separate HDD or a spare partition it doesn't take much time to install Win7 which I assume you are running. CPU or GPU overclocked at all? |

I don't think this guy is an over clocker judging by the way he spelt dual. Question: Did these crashes occur once you got the 6850? Or have you had it for a while and they just started out of nowhere? First: I'd recommend reinstalling the latest drivers for it from. www.ati.amd.com In the box near the top right DOWNLOAD DRIVERS. Put in Desktop Graphics -> Radeon HD series -> Radeon HD 6XXX series PCI-E -> Then your current operating system. Did you build the PC or did a friend/business do it for you?

Brute force approach may not always be pretty but tends to be effective.
I wasn't suggesting he wipe windows either if that was an issue. I had to RMA my 5850 a couple months ago too so I feel the pain. |

Why even bother buying an 6850 when stock playing with DX9c & an old AMD dual core socket939?
Any of the old hardware maybe failing , PSU , RAM , HDD... check out the temps? Last edited by Goodman; Feb 25, 2011 at 04:54 AM. |
