Scythe Expands Gentle Typhoon Series with New High-RPM Fans

Scythe Co. Ltd. extends the popular Gentle Typhoon fan series by three powerful high RPM models. The new Gentle Typhoon High RPM fans are available with 3.000, 4.250 and 5.400 rpm. These high fan speeds generate an incredible airflow of 141, 197 and 255 m³ per hour (83.0 / 116.5 / 150.1 CFM).

In direct comparison to fans with similar specs, the Gentle Typhoon High RPM series scores with a significant lower noise. Like the normal GT models, a perfectly balanced Nidec Servo bearing is used, ensuring an average MTBF of 100.000 hours. The reliable motor operates with an almost fluctuation-free rotational torque. Vibrations transferred from the motor to the venturi (fan case) are reduced to a minimum.



In addition, the fan blades of the Gentle Typhoon High RPM series are equipped with a stabilizing ring. In this way, the air flow is more focused which results in a higher cooling performance. At the same time the stabilization effect further helps to reduce vibrations.

I feel like scythe isn't being aggressive enough with the sales of these fans. If they custom ordered some without the struts, sleeved them and possibly add color led options... then priced them a few dollars less... add that to their reputation and they could end up doubling or tripling sales. It's the perfect base fan it just needs more aggressive backing to reach it's full market potential.

I think I would love to have a couple of the 5400rpm variants on a fan controller. I just don't need any more fans, especially not expensive ones

These fans do indeed kick ass. Well, at least the original did. I imagine these do too. I do agree I wish they would push their recognition harder.

It sucks, however, they cost a fortune. As it sits, in some situations I've recommended people using 2 cheaper fan config, as sometimes that's actually a better way to go. For applications you can use one fan for though, these are wonderful if you can afford them. Kind of wish they'd make a ~140mm-in-120mm mounting model, as that's all the rage these days and I kind of like it. Perhaps it isn't possible with this design though.

That is if you see a fan controller out there that caters 1.14 A . Very rare those are for the pc.

I have the scythe Ultra Kaza 120mm fan on the side of my case.. loud but damn.. it sucks in the air.. just wish it wasnt so wide.. 38mm.. LOL

Unfortunately for me I just installed my new two Kama Flow 2 fans. They were the highest RPM Scythe fans (1900RPM). My local dealer already has 3000 and 4250rpm models.

The base models of these fans from the ODM are very expensive. I don't think scythe can do to much and still make money.

Actually in terms of static pressure/noise they're some of the questest fans you can get.

They make brilliant fans for high density radiators for this reason.

That gets mentioned a lot on various forums. no one actually provided concrete test results though.

( ixtremas suck the big one for cooling, good for exhaust fans though )

I think that they can't reach 3000RPM on the motherboard header. I got Kama Folow 2 connected to PWM sharing port of an Arctic fan. The motherboard is capable of driving the Scythe fan to only 1800 (possible 1900RPM).

well you can, but there is no sense in getting a fast one, as to most of motherboard headers dont go pass .50 amps.

They're the quietest fans you can get and also the the strongest on a rad without going into the extreme 2000+ rpm fans (sanyo denko, scthye Ultra kaze etc)

Sucks if you got a bad one but to try and suggest any scythe fan is quieter in ludicrus

Two different reviews by The Martin? Well I'll have to believe it.

But either the GT ball bearing noise ticks me of or there's some sort of serious QA issue because I owned 2x1450RPM and 2x1850RPM, about 8 months apart.

I really didn't notice the bearing noise (sounds like a whine more then tick but don't know if is the same) until I watched a video of a Noiseblocker right after a video of the 1850 rpm GT.

Note: I don't have either fans. Only going off what I hear in the videos.
