Nice looking card. Hope they stick with the center fan, although it's going to blow hot air into the case.

Could never afford this card, but I am always interested in AMD's performance in ANY market segment. Wow, over 300GB/s bandwidth?!? my 4850s together don't even equal 1/2 of that. This card looks like it will have performance, lets hope that driver issues are to a minimum this time around

Alien: I'm sure this card is awesome, but recent experence has made me favour nvidia for now, so I'm sure that the GTX 590 will be that little bit awesomer.

And before anyone calls me a fanboy, just look at the GTX 480. It was awesome in every way, wasn't it? It was everything that everyone expected and then some. It had best performance, best heat and best noise. Easily the best card, ever...

HD6990 will win hands down against HD5970. Now the question is, will it be enough against GTX590

I expect that just like all AMD products in the last two or three years, it's gonna be rather slower. However, it's gonna be sold at a "good value" price and everyone will proclaim "Great Success!!!" And then with overclocking, it will almost reach the speed of it's nvidia competition! Oh god, I can barely contain myself with excitement.

Nah man, if you're gonna compete, you've got to go for the performance crown every time. Then we'd see real performance improvements each generation like we used to years ago.

For the 7-series AMDs and the 6-series nvidias, I want to see AMD resoundly win for once and give us all a product that's worth salivating over. Just how hard is it?

depends if its a dual 570 or dual 580 if its a dual 570 yes, dual 580 ?????

then again seeing how there wasn't a dual 4XX there probably won't be one at all.

what? Isn't hd 5870 was the highest performance single gpu for more than 6 months ? And hd 5970 was the highest performance card until gtx 580?

Yeah, it was, but only because nvidia had Fermi problems.

My 4890 does 58 at idle So 62 I find pretty good for a dual top of the line GPU.

Oh and here are some slides.................

Radeon 6990 and GTX 590 should be about even, considering this generation Crossfire seems to scale slightly better than SLI.
But, most games are optimized for nVidia... and AMD needs to fire their inept driver team. I hate that whenever I update my drivers, I may get a new feature like missing pylons in SC2, or a random giant mouse cursor.
I love my 5850, it is still a beast of a card. But I would gladly punch everyone on the radeon software/driver team in the nuts.

If they can actually produce some decent drivers, this (or a GTX 590) + Bulldozer OR Ivy Bridge will replace my AM2+ rig.

You got it backward's my friend. The GTX 580 is the fastest single GPU so far. The 5970 has the crown for best overall performance on a single card that utilizes 2 GPUs. The GTX 580 is only 1 GPU, hence they [nVidia] are finally making a combat with the GTX 590 Dual GPU to go against the 6990, forget the 5970 because the 6990 will be more current. It'd be funny if the GTX 590 is only as fast as the 5970, but that will be unlikely. I can't wait for both to come out and compare. I know I will be buying the 6990 come summer time and sell my 5850 Crossfires
