AMD 'Bulldozer' CPUs Slated for June

AMD is said to have finalized the shipping dates of its new high-end processor lineup. The company's new nameless lineup of high-end desktop processors will be released to market in the second half of June. The new processors will be built on the 32 nm manufacturing process, and will be based on the much talked about Bulldozer architecture. The reason it's "nameless" is because there's no processor brand (such as Athlon or Phenom) attached to it. The lineup will consist of AMD FX8000 series octo-core processors, AMD FX6000 series hexa-core processors, and AMD FX4000 series quad-core processors. The chip will feature high-speed DDR3 integrated memory controllers, but will lack integrated graphics. AMD will release as many as eight processor models. To support the processors, AMD's partners in the motherboard industry will release socket AM3+ motherboards based on AMD 9-series chipsets, around the same time.

it's too late... june intel might tech demo 22nm ivy bridge, year end aka december ivy bridge will come and haunt amd's 6 month old CPUs for good, leave alone the LGA 2011 processors.

I don't know what you mean.

Intel will demonstate Ivy Bridge at Computex (June), and will probably launch it CES (January) 2012. That's kind of become a tradition, more-or-less, since Conroe. Hopefully AMD isn't too far behind with it's 10-core dozer and more importantly (imo), Trinity.

LGA 2011 will probably launch in Q3, similar to when i7-970 did last year. I'm sure the 8-core model will be launched in an attempt to rain on AMD's parade, but who will buy one?

The competition for enthusiast hearts and minds will be on the 6-cores versus a full 'dozer. I remain curious how high the BD bus will be clocked, and will be able to clock. If it's only something like 233 (which makes the most sense from the rumored speeds) and we can still pull off tricks to get into massive 300+ territory, AMD could have themselves a pretty great niche until IB. There's always the possibility Intel will slip a poison pill of a 6-core 'K' in 'relatively' cheap though. Of course, it should be interesting to see if the LGA 2011 platform cost will justify itself (for most people) regardless.

Should be an interesting one to watch.

I hope that AMD finds a decent CEO that can light a fire under their lazy a$$es and force them to speed up their release cycles. AMD is still 1,5 years behind intel manufacturing wise.

Lazy Asses? Dude, it's like David against bloody Goliath -- AMD has a fraction of the R&D money that Intel has. They're probably going as fast as they can, and then some. The fact that they're only 1.5 years behind Intel is amazing, and definitely admirable, and part of the reason why I only buy their chips (that and cost).

It seems they originally planned its release in September. I remember reading that at one point. Nobody should expect AMD to hit on par with Intel this release. If they get close that is all one can hope for. One step at a time!

LOL

Thats what I thought as well.

Was thinking of going for the i7950 way back at the end of September, but someone on here said "WAIT ON SANDY BRIDGE". So I waited on Sandy Bridge, I waited, and it was nothing special over the pre-existing i7 series of chips. Then I read that Bulldozer was listed for the first week in April 2011, so I decided to wait on that....and now this shit!

By the time I finally upgrade my base I will probably have waited almost a whole year.
