Keep this board or upgrade?

I have a gigabyte P67A-UD3 board which is going back to microcenter due to the chipset problem and I have a choice of getting the same or upgrade to another. Since this is the low end of the p67 boards, I am willing to spend more to get a better board while I have the chance. What are your opinions on this?

I'm going to fill in the comp specs in a bit so you can see what I'm running.

How much more are you willing to spend.

I'd say either the UD4 or Deluxe.

Deluxe doesn't seem to have any advantages over the UD4.

Do you ever plan on using CF / SLI? If so you'll probably need a different board as that one can only do 16x4 CF and no SLI.

Do you really want to squeeze the maximum overclock? If so you might want a board with a little better voltage regulation.

Either case I think the Asrock Extreme4 would fit the bill nicely and is only like $20 more. I was gona take advantage of the recall to upgrade too but decided not to.

if you can get a better board for maybe an extra $25 or so i'd say go for it.

I'm gonna check out what Microcenter has and probably upgrade to a better board. I'm not planning on running cf/sli at the moment but you never know Will check into the boards mentioned here. Thanks

low end usually gives you basic need, i guess it return to you if you need full feature, you could consider upgrade but if you need just basic things maybe you could run it for little bit longer

This was usually the case with lga 775, though the low end of the likes of SB, 1156 and 1366 are still good enough to yield 4ghz+ overclocks, I would agree with what has been said unless you plan on going multi GPU or need to hit your chips absolute max OC then why spend the money.

My board is considered low end of the P55 chipset though still cost me £100 and runs my 860 at 4ghz all day long, has all the bells and whistles I need inc SATA3/USB3 etc I had the same dilemma before I bought it and was going to get a UD4 though the extra £40 for an extra pcie lane and better power circuitry just wasn't worth it IMO.

So it depends if you "need" the extras a more expensive board will give you.

2500K huh? Get the UD3R instead of the old UD3 because it's better for overclocking and doesn't hurt your wallet.
