Yes, it sure would!

I would recommend upgrading to a Sapphire 6870 1GB.
Or if you want Nividia, get the EVGA GTX 560 Ti 1GB.

Both cards are CHEAP and offer GREAT performance.
And both will make you quite futureproof for another 3 years or more!

If you want to spend even less, but still get the performance increase you want,
look into the HD6770 from AMD. Those are great too!

Yes, get the GTX 560 Ti 1GB, its a lot better than the GTX 285 that you have

even a gtx 460 would be great! but 560 is better

it will boost your performance by a lot!
happy gaming ^___^

And, for heaven's sake, throw an overclock on that 940. It will make a big difference feeding a new graphics card. Mine clocks very well.

Agreed on the overclock.... BTW way looking for a new card I am selling a GTX 580 if your interested
But yeah man your system is not that old nor would it have a problem handling a better video cars. Any of the New Gen from 6850 and up and GTX 560 and up would be worth an upgrade.

Depends on what you mean by "difference". Are you not happy with the gaming performance you get with your current graphic card? Wisdom here is to upgrade your graphic card when you are unhappy with its performance not when a new thing comes out.. My personal answer in your situation is a sound NO since the 285 gtx is quite modern and will play any game you throw at it.

okay ppl saying its awesomely better then a 285 wake the fuck up a GTX 460 out of box is only around GTX 275 performance in DX9 and DX10 with DX11 yea awesome new features but even lower performance, so lets do this right

Minimum GTX 560 Ti to see a good boost in DX9 and DX10 and to get good DX11 performance.

It also depends on the definition of "Will play any game you throw at it" Will it play most games at full specs on DX10? Yes Will it play all games on DX9 at full specs? Yes....Will it play any game in DX11 No!

The GTX 285 is and was a great card... but when you can beat it by a good bit with a card that uses less power/ Costs less than that one did when new/ and will do all the modern features... I ask why not go for it especially if he is looking for a new card.

But if DX11 and the new features don't really appeal to you. As well as the power issue and the heat issue....and doesn't mind that he can't play all the games with AA and AF all the way up (Which is not bad necessarily)..... than I say your right he is good with what he has.

Without dropping lots of money on something that's gonna really show more performance, a 560Ti at best will be a smaller, cooler, less power hungry card than that 285. Maybe it will have a bit of a noticeable difference, maybe not. I'm not moving away from my 260 for a long time. I only bought my friend's 5870 cause he offered it for very cheap, but it turned out to be bad. If the RMA falls through, then I'll just hang on to my 260.

Don't worry about upgrading that card it is a very good and capable card. Maybe get Arctic Accelero for it so you can quite it down a bit but that's all. I'm running 240 GT on Arctic Accelero and no plans to upgrade. But then again I don't fancy Crysis at 1080p with AA Maxed out.

I strongly vote for the GTX 560Ti as well, I read they overclock really well and can match a GTX 570. Here's a listing of some of the GTX 560Ti models, ignore the prices if you don't live in Aussie land

This; I was gonna say, hang on to your GTX 285, especially if it's not a BFG; that was the reason I sold mine. Wait for the next generation.

well if you only want to play dx9 and 10 games, get the extra 285. however if you play dx11 games like bfbc2, then get a 560 in a couple months time.
