N570GTX PE/OC or R6970 Lightning?
Been drooling at the N580GTX Lightening, but it's price tag too painful to look at so have to settle for little sis N570GTX Twin Frozr III PE/OC. but then i saw the MSI R6970 Lightning maybe just as fast as the 580 Lightening but only for for $20 more than the 570.
I like Nvidia and have never use Ati/AMD since 03, Which is worth getting? Price watts, power draw, etc... Display: U2410 1920x1200 60hz native. Corsair AX850 MSI N570GTX Twin Frozr III PE/OC: MSI N570GTX Twin Frozr III PE/OC GeForce GTX 570 (... MSI R6970 Lightning: MSI R6970 Lightning Radeon HD 6970 2GB 256-bit GDD... Leaning more towards 570 PE/OC, share your thoughts, thanks. Last edited by Taskforce; Apr 26, 2011 at 07:46 PM. |

Depends on your resolution. If you play at 1920x1200 or more, then stay away from anything less than 1.5GB vram imo.

I'd go for the GTX570, but that's just me. 2gb of ram is tempting but not a whole lot will use it. more than 1gb is necessary but my GTX570 has only run into a framebuffer limitation on Metro 2033, nothing else.

The 6970 lightning isn't as fast as the stock 580, let alone the 580 lightning (at your resolution).
![]() But given the 570 or 6970 lightning, i'd take the 6970 lightning. |

Id take the 6970 lightning,
voltage control great cooling, quiet and many reviewers and users have hit greater then 1000mhz cores on the card with temps staying low Guru3d 1023mhz TPU 975mhz Kitguru 1040mhz tpu review sample seemed to clock on the low side, but otherwise all other reviews show the 6970 lightning consistantly beating the 570 stock vs stock and at full overclock there also equal, and both surpass the stock gtx 580 that said ill take the same performance with larger Vram size, as im sorry to say theres more games out there that use more then 1.5gb of ram depending on settings mods etc, and with extra vram are completely playable, for 99% of gaming the 570 and 6970 will run neck and neck just depends entirely on the game title, aka TWIMTBP or AMD gaming Evolved, look at all reviews you can compare performance in newer titles you play whatever card performs the best in those games grab that.
