the HDMI out is useless it doesn't have the power todo 720p let alone 1080p
you would be lucky to get decent performance at 1024x768 with the specs on this still not bad for 25bucks but nothing to rave over

I don't think so, because i have tried several model of ipad clone with the exact same cpu to be able to play 720p mkv file quite well

That thing should work ... for basic tasks. Indeed it's good that anyone can afford that.

They aren't giving it away to students to watch movies on, they are giving it to them so they can learn. You don't need 1080p playback to use it as a learning device. The HDMI port makes the most sense because most low income students that would need a $25 PC are more likely to have an HDTV in their home than a computer monitor.

holy schmeezus thats a tiny pc, I would gladly settle for one 3-4 times the size (perhaps the size of a basic mobile phone these days, so it easily fits in a pocket) that has 2-4 USB ports, HDMI and wifi. in that size you could probably double up on the CPU speed/cores and ram size too.

sweet, should be able to run android as well, and therefore many many apps as well. I've seen apps for overclocking various phones, so I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to do the same for this. could mount one of these in a laptop style case and have a droid netbook with pretty sweet battery life. add a 32gb or even 64gb (dunno if it'll support that much) SD card and you'd have plenty of space for apps and the like and could use it as a mp3/video player. pretty sweet for $25, i'd guess maybe $40 at most for the one with more ram, Ethernet, etc. might even run win8.
looking forward to updates on this micro pc. edit: just subbed to their youtube page

Ye, you could push 2x the frequency on some of the phones and run it like a boss. Overclocking is a viable option but not on the phones because battery life is an issue...
