Webcam not showing in Device Manager (Sony Vaio SZ360P)

Hey guys,

I recently reinstalled Win7 and the webcam on my Sony VGN-SZ360P is not showing the webcam in device manager. As a result I can't even start to deal with drivers.
The problem is I never used it before so am not sure whether it used to work or not. I'd really like to get this figured out so I don't have to purchase a webcam.

Thanks!

well we would have noticed if we clicked your link first lol. I'd say its definetly dead then. pity, an external webcam would be a pita with a portable laptop.

my thoughts exactly...I'm not sure whether not being visible in device manager definitively means dead or not though

Before you toss it out( just kidding), try this:

1. Goto device manager and find the "show hidden devices" and click it. Then, check the image devices section.
2. Check and see if it might be dis-able in the bios, a switch, or with a press of <Func key> + <Fn> combination.

My Hp can dis-able the webcam with a switch and/or <Func> + <Fn key> (little camera symbol above the key).

Not much help, but I figured I would throw it out there.

sony VGN

@nflesher87,
I would like to see if there is anything I can do to help. If you would like, you can send an email to SonyListens@am.sony.com including your name, address,model and serial number, what issue you are experiencing with your device and a phone number where you may be contacted. Put “Forum” in the subject line and either I or a member of my team will get back to you.

Thanks =~)
