5830 or 6870? I know the 6870 is faster...
There is a little more than a $50 price difference.
That being said what's the performance like on the 5830 with matured drivers? I know at release they were just a touch faster than a 5770. I'll be replacing my 5770 as I sold it today. **************** ORDERED A 6870.

Just get an HD 6850. The price difference should be minimal over the HD 5830, and will perform on par (if not a little better).

I personally think its a little pointless to get a 5830. I know from a budget standpoint it is cheaper, but the performance will not be there. It will be just like having your 5770 all over again albeit with a lot higher power consumption. So in turn, you will be paying back for it in your electricity bill. I'd say go for the cheapest 6870 you can from a reliable reputed company. Just my 2 cents.

HD6870 is a bit faster than HD5850. Though i've seen very low priced XFX HD6950 with dual fan cooler. If you don't mind slightly higher price i'd check the 6950 series. Even faster, better FSAA modes and with some luck you can unlock them to HD6970 by modding the BIOS.
If i were you i'd either look at HD5850 or HD6870. If pricing is good, also 6950.
