lol, yogurt you just don't want to admit you're wrong. I'm not talking about the SE models. The standard GTX 460's are under $150 with rebates. I'm simply stating a fact that it's not worth 155 used. Can he get $155? Maybe. It's definitely not worth it though.
Continue making him feel good; I'm just being honest with him. Carry on. |

I showed factual proof of the prices of similar cards. Like I said, if he sells the card for $155 I will be very happy for him. I will even write an apology note if there is proof. However, I do not believe the card is worth $155. I doubt anyone on this forum would pay that. Would you? |

No you didn't. You showed prices of lower quality cards and tried to say that because they can be bought cheaper, his card isn't worth $155. A price of a "similar" card would be the Hawx edition card, which still retails for $200. Not some low end card with the reference flower style cooler on it and reference PCB with weak PWM design.

Round and round we go! You've (three members) expressed your comments, no need to continue. If you really want to change someone's mind on the subject PM them or something because this is ridiculous.

Okay sold the gtx 460 and took your advice 156.00, and now have a EVGA 560TI, good card and finally a decent low sounding ref cooler.

I have it now, and it does 920 core with no votage change. As long as the voltage is left alone the cooler is fairly quiet. It seems like a win here but I am very very picky so we will see. I was looking at a gtx 480 but at 920 core and stock voltage this card is very near that performance and not nearly as hard on your psu. I will try it out and get back to you. FYI, I have read that these cards are a big improvement over a GTX 460 but that has not been the case here. My GTX 460 even at 810 core was fairly close to this card.

Yeah, that is pretty much what I've been telling everyone. After all, they are just the same card with a few more shaders enabled and slightly higher overclock potential. The only reason the GTX560 ti seems so much better than the GTX460 is the GTX560's higher stock clocks, but in reality the two are very similar. Once you clock a GTX460 up to the same clock speeds as the GTX560 ti, the difference is at best 15% and usually closer to 10%, which amounts to 5-10FPS in most games when maxed out.

Well the Hawk is at 780 core or 810 depending the version so they are basically 560 gtx cards anyways, so overclocked. Quote:
I like these cards alot but I'm still wondering if this is truly a single card future proof solution. I was expecting a bit more performance. Dont get me wrong it is a great card and is not a power hog at all but a gtx 480 or 570 is also temping. I piced this card ups at a local store for 229.00 after a rebate and thats taxed so it was a decent deal for a brick and mortar store. |

It was about 9 dollar less on newegg, but you would have to wait three days, so I am happy with the price. FYI I seem to have recieved a moderate overclocker here so far 920/2100 on default voltage and default fan. I'm still working one the overclocking so we will see. Okay I had tried this card before and couldn't get it to boot but since this evga card was having a few minor issues I took it back and tried a gtx 560 ti Twin FrozrII and wow!! The evga card was nice but his card is unreal. The temps are night and day when voltage is applyed. The Evga would hit 85c with the default fan nad this card does not break 60c. This is crazy good approaching 1ghz on air now.

What is a 4890 going for? that is what a 460 is worth. Same performance. Same heat. I regretted selling my 4890 and getting a 460 FTW
One of the biggest mistakes I ever made. I should know better than listen to internet suggestions. |
