When to build? And some other questions

About two months ago i was going to build a computer but then people told me to wait for direct x 10 cards but I heard games wont be fully direct x 10 for a long time so they said dont bother waiting then i was going to wait for windows vista but i decided not to. and now people are saying to wait for intel core 2 duo cpus to come out ( I am waiting for those). So once intels cpus come out i am going to build my first computer!! Will i have no idea which case to get i dont know if i should go mid tower or full tower cause im afraid i wont have enough room in a mid tower (i dont know how much room mid tower has) And because im waiting for the new cpu i have to wait to buy a motherboard and i have to wait to buy ram. ugh. So my biggest question is, is it worth it to go intel? cause amd dosent seem worried so they much have somethig up their sleeves. so i dont know if this is only a short power gain or what? so if anyone can help me out thanks. sry i wrote so much.

dual core amd chips are about to drop price by around 50% i would (i am) waiting for that (late next week i think). i normally go with an oversized mid tower in all aluminum. dont wiat for vista... and if your waiting for the newest best hardware to come out you will always be waiting. there is always something better for cheeper on the horizon.

Good move, wait for "normal folks" (not just reviewers) to tell you what they think of them & find in running 'em (mostly those who have run BOTH from both famlies in recent years).

That'd be my take - while I sit here wishing I myself, waited, but I am VERY happy w/ this rig, by all means (especially now, overclocked w/ help from folks here).

I waited out $1,100 cpu I have now, until it chopped nearly in 1/2... for an example. Now, 3 months++ later?

Here comes Intel Conroe!

Mid-tower should be enough, but, what do you have that you want to stuff into it? It matters... got a list?

You can NEVER stay ontop in this field, imo, more than 6-12 months, tops... as far as hardware!
