Besides; the actual tower its self looks pretty damn fine, too, with lots of heat pipes and spaced nicely.

But the best? The archon looks like that and doesnt destroy the D14.

This is true.


However, the Archos has only one 140mm fan. Add to that, it moves less air (TT = 56CFM, NZXT = 90CFM each ) in a single fan configuration and you will see why it doesnt top any lists.

I doubt this is 90CFM, its 1200rpm only. Lust like the TY-140 from the archon

Remember, pitch of the blades can make a whole world of difference to how it 'pushes' the air over the fins.

CFM and dB from fans is the most unreliable measure with manufacturers, for instance the sicleflow 90CFM 19dB from CM LMAO

buy one and see for yourself what a full soldered cooler, yes soldered pipes and soldered fins, a ton of surface area, and really good fans all on the same cooler can do

They arent normally soldered? Wow i have been mislead my entire life. Fail for every other company. Direct contact or coupling is bad bad for heat conduction

The fan is the same, but the tower is different check the bottom heatpipes. I bet this fan is from a brand that sells it for rebranding. Maybe some small company patented the desing as really efficient, now companies with name use it for selling

If it's a good fan blade design I hope it's a ball bearing fan. There's been lots of nice fan bade advancements but they always get stuck on crap sleeve bearing chassis. I'd like to see one on a GT frame or something.

This is from the archon. Sneaky do you have a Archon for comparison? I find it very similiar in form and heatpipe distribution. And using the same fans could give a equal result.

no I don't have one, and there is more to a cooler than just the amount and distribution of the pipes of a base that makes or breaks a cooler, even if all coolers run the same fans

For the overclockers review i contacted the reviewer and he responded, I hope he doesnt mind

[...] Thermalright didn't bother sending us an Archon or Silver Arrow and I sold the NH-D14 I had bought out of my own pocket for reviewing back when I did a 6 premium heatsink shootout. I do still have my trusty old TRUE Rev. C, which ran a very close second to the NH-D14 in my shootout. And I do plan to re-run tests with the TRUE when I get the chance on my present test system, since I know how it performed last time. My test system has gone through some revisions since I did my first review almost a year ago. I now have an i7 930 in it instead of my 980X and the results aren't remotely comparable (980X is easier to cool, actually). I also have another couple of Thermalright bang/buck type heatsinks I will be running head to head in the near future. One is the Cogage True Spirit and the other is the MUX-120, which I think actually are one and the same, with the MUX being prettyfied and with a better mounting system.

Informally, I can tell you that the Havik 140 is performing very close to the TRUE Rev. C using normal low to mid range fans. That is just from seeing the performance of both when not actively running bench tests but rather running Rosetta under BOINC. But I do plan to retest the TRUE on this setup so that I have hard data to backup my gut feeling. The closest I can give you to hard data between the TRUE and the Havik right now is to let you see what I had gotten with the TRUE in my Hyper 212 Plus review. But since I didn't run my normal range of tests with it I can't add it to my stock configuration list (just yet). But you can look at the TRUE run there and then look at the Havik runs with the same fan setup.

This catches my attention. Looks like it'll cool your ram and everything else, and is probably comparable to the D14 based on how their last top down cooler performed. I just wish they weren't so stubborn about the bloody booger paint scheme... I mean there are other options for mild classy colors.
