Corsair Recalls Force 3 120 GB Solid State Drives, Offers Free Replacement

Corsair issued a recall notice for its Force 3 120 GB solid state drive (model: CSSD-F120GBG3-BK). Other variants of the Force 3 series are not affected. Corsair noted a hardware issue where Force 3 120 GB SSDs shipped had much less performance than advertised. Owners of Force 3 120 GB can apply for a completely free replacement (shipping costs will be borne by Corsair), for a Force 3 120 GB drive from a normal batch. Owners can apply for a replacement at Corsair Support. Corsair will be pulling faulty batches of Force 3 120 GB off the shelves until they are restocked with fresh batches of normal drives.

Well shit happens sometimes. Considering they'll be replacing them no problem and they'll even carry shipping costs i don't see anything wrong with that. Opposed to OCZ which was selling smaller manufacturing process as the regular drives. They were aware of that. Where in this case they found it out later. It's inconvenient for the user but at least they are dealing with it properly...

first time I've seen a recall for less than expected performance. Good for them in standing behind not only their product, but also they're advertisement.

now I want to see car manufactuers do the same, you know liek the toyota adds where they dropped a ton of stuff onto a tundra and it drove off or the dodge nitro adds where they dropped it through the earths crust, past the mantle and all the way to the core.

It is actually due to a defect in the hardware on the drives, the drives have major issues like BSOD, dropping out of BIOS, and corrupting data, very few of them were actually stable.

I'm now trying to get a replacement, but their forum rep "Yellowbeard" has been ignoring the question I asked, like will the replacement be OEM or retail.

I've got one right here that I bought from Newegg, and Newegg was willing to do a full refund + UPS label because I hadn't opened the box. They've taken them off their site now as well.

TheOne, I have a feeling the replacement will be retail.

Yea me to, but I want to know for sure this time, no more headaches, basically I just want to make sure I get the 1 accessory the drive comes with, also I meant several questions, that was just the first, the other two were eventually answered by another admin after several people came in to the forums asking the same.

A tech company that actually gives a sh*** about their products and it's performance, bloody hell this is a amazing company.

With Corsair you do not need a lemon law in CA they are capable of doing a fixup themselves without a class action law suit, bloody amazing.

Now just to get all the other 1mil company's that does tech to follow this example.

Nudge nudge wink wink crApple and T"hacked for 3 years"-Mobile please catch a wake up.

This is why I like Corsair. They stand behind their products and won't sell less than advertised. What a great company!

Corsair are the greatest- even cover the shipping costs. I hate how greedy Intel are, but in moments like this I feel much safer with my X25-M.

This is why I shy away from new tech until matures.

Just wanted to say that Newegg has got the new drives in stock.
You can tell by looking at the first four numbers above the product part number on the UPC sticker. Anything with 1122 or lower needs to be returned. Anything with 1123 or above is good new product.

Thanks for the update. Unfortunately, I think Newegg reviews of the recalled drives have just about killed them for most consumers =\ I'm going to be waiting for a Force GT to see what they want to charge.
