Mitsubishi Announces Fast New DiamondCrysta Monitor

Mitsubishi Electronics announced its latest consumer display, the DiamondCrysta RDT233WX-Z. This 23.6-inch monitor uses a matte IPS panel that is LED-backlit, and is capable of 120 Hz refresh rate at its native resolution of 1920 x 1080, making it ideal for stereo 3D applications such as Blu-ray 3D and gaming. It is backed by a response time of 5 ms (GTG). Other vital stats include maximum brightness of 350 cd/mē, dynamic contrast ratio of 5,000:1, and viewing angles of 178°/178°. Display inputs include two HDMI 1.4, and one each of DVI and D-Sub. To top it off, there's a pair of inbuilt 3W stereo speakers. The Mitsubishi DiamondCrysta RDT233WX-Z is slated for market release on June 29, in Japan. Its price is not known.

5ms IPS can perform almost the same as 2ms TN monitors as far as ghosting goes. However, it will be interesting to see how good the cross talk is on these monitors in 3D mode.

5ms isn't slow to begin with. All those monitors claiming to be faster are just using heavy overdrive to get faster response between certain shades of gray. In fact, some just lie by picking 2 shades of gray that are closer together than other manufacturers might use.

No panel is natively faster than 5ms.

To put things into perspective for you, 120hz refreshes every 8 1/3 ms.

At any rate. I am glad to finally see some 120hz monitors using decent panels. I'm tired of TN-film garbage.

Refresh rate =/= response. Response = time to receive the information and show it, refresh rate = number of times pictures change. But I guess you know it, so this is pointless other than to other people who doesn't know.

Didn't say it did. I was putting it into perspective for him. Most tech people seem to understand Hz better than ms, so I was just giving him something to compare it to.

AKA: 5ms is a really, really small amount of time. lol.

Make it a x 1200px and we'll see. Otherwise sounds astonishing compared to all the "green" etc. TN crap thats been pushed for years now.
