Real Problems updating drivers

I am fixing an Intel Advent Quantum Q200 laptop for a friend and i am having a nightmare putting drivers into it.

I think ive downloaded some drivers for it but from device mngr when i try to update the driver i explore the desktop where i have the driver file but the driver is not on the desktop when i browse, according to this there is nothing at all on the desktop to associate the update driver feature with.

And when I take the option to find driver using internet it returns a dialog box saying sorry no compatible driver found or some such, and now that i come to think of it i cant remember that feature ever returning anything other than complete failure. Tell the truth now: has any one ever had this feature do anything except say sorry ?

I hate drivers; any help would be apreciated

Hi,

firstly, I believe you need to extract the Intel GMA driver (you didn't say about which Intel Integrated Graphics you are using. Is it GMA3150?) before you can browse via device manager and install it manually. And secondly, you can install the graphics/video driver by executing the installer (usually by double clicking on the file).

So what you can do is find out the exact model of integrated graphics that's in the laptop/netbook and redownload the driver; if the driver match the model of the integrated graphics there shouldn't be any problems and you can just install it by double clicking on the installer.

Good luck!

Drivers can be fun They need to be extracted if compressed and need to be the right ones

Thanx fer the help i have sorted it in the end & they were extracted by the way so yes i just double hit the loader and presto.

It just makes it very difficult when you have all these models with the same name and no specific driver pack only individual drivers from here there and everywhere, it can be time consuming but luckily someone had tackled the problem & left useful links for them.

Not all manufactures do this. I avoid HP, Advent, Compaq, Acer, and charge more to fix them just do to the support. Dell is probably the best as far as driver support
