Why not Z68, and ASUS over GB

I'd get the evo. And I'm not really aware of any reason to pay the few bucks more for the Z68 equivalent unless you plan on screwing up a video card flash in the near future.

yes i plan on putting in a graphics card from the start, thats why i didn't think there was much point in getting the z68, or do you need the z68 if you plan on using graphics cards?

Z68 has the Intel Quick Cache SSD cache thingie, and allows you to use the Intel GPU for transcoding and such, if the board comes with a Lucid Virtu liscence.

My P8P67 Pro review:

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/P8P67%20PRO/

SCORE: 9.3.

My P67A-UD4-B3 review:

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Gigabyte/P67A-UD4/

SCORE: 8.5

ASUS is doing better. P8P67 EVO offers more than the PRO that I reviewed, which, to me, makes the choice obvious. Forget Gigabyte. Give 'em a year or so to get some better products, then they might be a worthy contender.

Too bad other reviewers don't cover as much as I do, makes it hard to see why the EVO board is good.

ALSO:

FYI, I am using the Gigabyte board right this second. I do not like it, it's BIOS, or the clocking it offers. Unfortunately it's the best board I have on-hand right now.

See Cadaveca's comments above, "SSD Cache thingie". Not to mention the Lucid technology will save on power and reduce stress on the dedicated GPU.
