Rate this laptop..
Acer Aspire AS7551G-7606 Notebook AMD Phenom II Qu...
I'm gonna need one for when I deploy/go to training/fantasy football :P I'd be getting 2x4GB sticks with it and eventually buy a decent sized SSD from someone here. Light gaming, internet browsing, movie watching.

That laptop will do fine for light gaming and the 8gb of ram and a SSD will help a lot. I give it a 8/10

I still think laptops over 14 inches is a bad idea, but sure. Looks pretty good.
And 8GB or RAM is a waste for what you'll do with it.

Ok, you asked for it:
Pros: Cheap has an OS Does simple work(ie Word, web, ect) has a dedicated gpu Cons: Its an Acer 17" crappy 1600x900 res. battery life is going to be 2 hrs for the first 6 months then 1 hr for another 6 months No mention of any warranty through Acer, edit found the standard 1 year 5400rpm drive the dedicated gpu is a 6470m I personally would look at other brands, Acer has had a long line of troubles. Are you looking at the $500 price point? I think you should find one with a better battery, and a smaller screen(15" with x1650 resolution). edit, cant find a decent one under $800. Sorry

^^ thats the thing.. the price on this is the selling point. I cant find anything comparable to it at that price.
I could buy a high end netbook at that price but then I lose alot of resolution with the screen size reduction.. not mention id be paying the same price for something slower. I'm willing to get a netbook, I just dont want to stutter thru basic games like i did with my old one.

every acer I have had including the 5551G had battery problems, (battery discharging to 0% in under one year on the 5551G) but acer is fast to replace it but after that your warranty will probably have expired and you will be screwed, I would avoid acer.

Bummer that you missed out on the $379 HP AMD A4-3300 that Best Buy had on sale last week. That would have been perfect for the tasks you are describing.
