League Of Legends - CPU temps?

My friend recently introduced me to this game after my guildwars accounts got hacked and i completely dropped the game from my playlist.

Now when i run intensive games like Metro2033 or BC2. my CPU never goes above 60'c in core temp.

I could put my rig through 50 loops of metro2033 benchmark and temps would never hit above 60'c

Now... one thing that really confuses me was, after playing a round of L.o.L core temp was showing the maximum heat was around 98'c which is totally unsafe for my CPU especially for extended periods of time.

However I have noticed that my COOLANT temperture on my Kuhler doesnt go above 35'c when ambient temps is 21'c.

so that leaves me totally miffed.

98'c would mean that the coolant should reach a lot higher then 35'c and when i reach around the back to see how hot the exhausted air is. my 6970s are hotter by miles. so i have no idea whats going on here.

Im about to play another round and use coretemp to log temps so i can pinpoint where it hits 98'c

otherwise im totally lost. The Devs have made it clear that the game is CPU bound. but im not like 98'c on my 2500k

If anyone has any thoughts. please share it

lol ! I'm betting on a sensor going haywire, or a bug in the prog reading the temps.
That, or you've just discovered the next best CPU stressing tool.

Moved to Games section. I think you may get more help here.

I found on my p8p67 that the motherboard CPU temp is not accurate and jumps between a couple of static values, 60C, 128C. Faulty sensor or a bios bug.

Coretemp will show you your real values.

fyi,

I was using the latest version of coretemp thats just been released.

the Logging the temps in coretemp doesnt really tell me much either.

I think the temps spike to 98'c but they dont stay there. maybe something to do with L.o.L's bad coding or what not.

Ah, my apologies, thats what I get for skimming posts.

I can't really offer any constructive advice other than try another temp monitoring program or try a previous version of coretemp as it dosen't seem likely that your cpu would spike 30c higher than normal. If your running bc2 at 60c then even at 100% load I doubt you could reach 98c. You could try a stress test and see what temps you reach.

I can say that the game certainly isn't amazing in the optimization department, at times there are graphical glitches such as the lizards at red buff spewing endless streams of fire that will bring your game to a crawl, at those moments I wouldn't be surprised if temps spike.

LoL only uses 2 cores I think, so it's higly unlikely it's hitting those temps if the other games are ok. Gonna check tomorrow on my system.

anway. Ive come to a conclusion about the temperature spikes to 98'c. Its a bug with the new coretemp. I have notcied that it will occasionally spike to 98'c then back to idle temps for no aparent reason what so ever even when im not playing L.o.L

case closed on that one

Yes, I have it too in LoL (and with core temp), spikes of 98°C.
