Yeah, possibly a bad power supply. Try switching the power supply off at the back of the computer, then disconnecting it from everything. Then, try the paper clip trick. I wouldn't bother with the electrical tape, just hold the main atx connector in your hand so that the paper clip doesn't touch anything. If the power supply comes to life, try removing everything from the case and place the motherboard with only the cpu, heatsink, and ram installed, then plugging in the main power and cpu power, then switching the system on. You can do this without it being installed by the case by using something metal to jump the power-on pins, like a screwdriver. If this works, there's probably a grounding issue somewhere in your case. You did use the little spacers, right?

Forgot to mention that I got this psu from a friend a while back. He didn't need it because his liquid cooling melted a hole in his mother board litterally. Sobiban wondering if all hat electrical damage did some damage to the power supply? Also I have more fans in this new case so j was wondering if the little extra power usage sent it over he edge.

I doubt that. The best thing for you right now is to follow instructions in post 2.

Yeah no kidding! Luckily it was smart enough to quickly turn back off. Which would explain the half seconds of power. :O
