AOC USB-Powered 16-inch Monitor Heads for October Launch
First spotted at this year's CEA LineShow event in New York, this June, AOC's E1649FWU portable, USB-powered 16-inch monitor is heading towards an October launch. It is set to cost US $139. Roughly the size of a 15.6" laptop screen, E1649FWU is extremely portable. It comes with its own retractable stand that can let you place it in both portrait and landscape modes.
The E1649FWU takes one USB 2.0 input, through which it draws both its power, and signal. The monitor has its own USB display adapter built-in, to handle that. Illumination is care of an LED array. Vital stats include 1366 x 768 pixels native resolution, 5 ms response time, 50,000,000:1 DCR, and up to 250 cd/mē brightness. It is not HDCP-compliant. ![]() Source: TechConnect Magazine |

What would this be used for? Most electronics requiring a screen, already come with one from stock

You can get that, which I think is more of a "hey look what I got, you don't have one? so sad." gadget or you can get a 19" monitor(after googling bestbuy then clicking 200 and under I'm sure you can find better for same price.) for $10 less http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/...06a15d3780en02 However I do see the upsides, for server colos where they don't have screens, a smaller screen for Vent chat/temps, it just seems so over priced...

I could use one of these for my home server. it's currently using my tv/receiver setup as its monitor, which it doesn't "need" but i don't really have the space or need for a regular monitor for it. Would be great for the convenience, plug n play to check on the server status or do maintenance on it, then unplug it and be done. Then i could plug it back into my computer if i wanted to, for whatever reason.

seems like it has some good uses. cool thing would be if said screen was touchscreen. then you could plug it into a server or something along those lines and not need any other devices.

I could see my way to getting one of these as a nice cheap secondary monitor I can use for LAN's and troubleshooting.

They should have done USB 3.0, it allows so much more bandwidth and power consumption.

Yeah, wasn't there an article recently about how USB3 will be able to deliver like 100 watts.
