probably to triple buffering
it does wonders but it was never ment to be used with Direct X, sadly with all the problems triple buffering is still superior to Direct X Render Ahead Limit which is Direct X form of Triple buffering its actually nothing like it but in general Triple buffering gives the better frame rate and better image quality it also has far higher memory usage. you also have to remember this is day 1 game, no patches no tweaks no real testing no ones does Q&A anymore you the user are the Q&A tester dont forget that

The dev build was released instead of the full version for PC.

Incompetence, that's how. They're also not fixing it. They released a xbox 360 debugging dev build for the pc, and are claiming that because they took the noclip and thirdpersonview binds out of the game, it's a full PC release.
This is the last game I am ever pre-ordering, or buying on a PC ever again. From any company. |

oh stop whining like little bitches, its from a small time developer, and its a fun game, the Tech in the game is 1 of a kind, in terms that you can break individual bones lop off arms etc if you use the analog control scheme,
so what its a port did anyone take 3 seconds to stfu and realize the game looks great for what it is, and runs on just about everything. just stfu and play the damn game its a 40-50hr Zombie kill fest that runs well, looks good and is genuinely fun. Co-Op is far more interesting then L4D2, heres the real kicker if none of the info above had been released if it has just been glazed over as bugs, instead of a 360 build no one would be complaining, |

Personally the game was impossible to play on day 1. But now it's fine, the only issue is, the FPS drops if you use internet to offer co-op. Easy fix is use Hamachi and play on LAN. I played a good 5 hours last night with friends and it was awesome, we had loads of fun. Especially as a group of 4, we would kick zombies to the ground then just gang beat them on the ground. But then we started getting brave and splitting into groups of 2 to do more quests at once, and we got into some sketchy scenarios. Port or not, the game looks good, the combat is fun, the level design is great, and they are fixing the issues. There isn't another open world zombie game to really compare to this, it's a ton of fun.

Is life perfect? No... is Steve Jobs healthy and happy? NO.... So, why do we think that a game has to be perfect?
Even with the factor that steve jobs has billions.. that doesn't mean he can cure his "death"...

Yes, it's fun, but it should have been perfected MONTHS ago.
Seriously, think about it. It's like they finished the last line of code for the closing cinematic and then just hit a giant red release button. Did they not test it on PC's to make sure all the features were A) working, which still some are not. B) looks good, they haven't added a vsync, FOV control or motion blur dial which are all three things which are needing to be fixed ASAP. Why would they not do it and then do it now? Chances are, they'll never fix these issues. C) If they released a 360 debugging build of the game, and then apologized, why would they not release the full version of the PC game if it's "not a console port" as stated by them. The full version for PC is just the 360 debugging dev build - noclip and thirdpersonview bound to keys on the keyboard. This game is just one nightmare after another. If it's impossible to play on day one, it's obvious that they didn't even so much as test it on ONE computer to see if it even runs. How pathetic is that? If they accidentally released the wrong version, why did it take them half a day to "release the full pc version"? It's because there is no PC version. The PC version is just a console port, and it's an incredibly obvious and obnoxious one. So sorry that I'm not okay with buying a full priced game only to have it a) impossible to play on the launch day b) still missing features and c) not properly coded/supported. That's why I'm not buying another PC title. Just saying. If that seems like whining, I honestly don't get it. I'm tired of per-ordering to be disappointed and have my initial feelings ruined towards a game because the game doesn't work on day one. It happens too often. It seems consoles get favoritism big-time, which really sucks since I prefer mouse and board. Last edited by Raijian; Sep 7, 2011 at 04:23 PM. |

I installed and played this last night (bought off steam). It played well, good fps with no lag at all. I haven't tried coop yet. I am having some issues with textures or something. Visually it looks pretty good if not for some of the textures. It's hard to explain. I'd have to take screenshots but something is not right for sure. Other than that it's been really fun. I haven't played much but I love killing zombies and this game fits the bill nicely.
I updated my video card drivers and it didn't help... I'm not too worried though as the game is playable and patches are still coming.

You capitalized your main point, but let me bold your secret main point. That key word right there is the problem you might not be happy with many games out there. I don't know about you, but buying anything I never expect perfection, because if I did, I would always be let down. You want something to be "perfect", build it yourself, because everyones idea of perfect is different and buying a product targeted at millions of people, even a "perfect" game in your eyes will not be perfect in anothers.
Story short is, it's day 2 and I'm playing the game and having tons of fun, with friends, so I don't see whats worthy of writing paragraphs about.

The game is now fixed as far as I'm concerned. Played for hours on end last night with no ill effects other than feeling dead tired today.

Yup only problem is that I'm dead tired, had class at 6 AM today and went to sleep at 3:00 :P
And that online isn't available yet. It was like ten times better playing with people and talking with them. So much more immersive. Also I'm on version 1.1 now. New patch out, don't know what it did.

Also, not completely sure on todays patch notes, but I can now make The Ripper (bonus for pre-ordering the game), so at least that was in the patch. Glad to see they are fixing it's issues , I'm pretty happy with the game now, a few more patches and it should be extremely good.

W1zz! How did you fix the "multi-monitor black screen"???? Please elaborate on that, as I have that issue and have not found the solution. Of course I have not researched it a ton yet LOL.

The game doesn't have to be 'perfect'. I'm playing it now and I absolutely love it, because it's running. On launch day it wouldn't even launch for me without crashing or deleting my save or giving me a boatload of errors. Is multiplayer working? I don't understand how to go about playing co-op with somebody on steam. The random "press J to join's" have ceased and when I try to look at game lobbies or invite a friend, it doesn't recognize my steam friends even when they're within a 1 level up or down difference and also playing the game. Shy of the multiplayer and some pop-ins, the game is incredibly fun. I do regret getting angry at Techland and lashing out. Techland is pretty new from what I gather. The game could definitely use some work, like for instance there is Spoiler

Do you think they will release a quick save function? I have no idea when or where the 'auto save' kicks in. I played for a couple of hours yesterday and shut down the game. When I loaded back up all my hours of playing were gone and I was at that shack where you wake up after being rescued from the hotel.
I like the game but I can't play it if it's not gonna save regularly.
