Shogun Bros Intro Updated Chameleon X-1 Wireless Mouse Gamepad Combo

Shogun Bros released a new version of its Chameleon wireless gaming peripheral, a fusion between a gaming mouse and a gamepad. The new Chameleon X-1 has a completely rubberised body that improves grip, its internals are modified to make more power-efficient (to make its battery last longer). The new version is said to have even better tactile feedback on its buttons, and a more ergonomic button layout.

As a mouse, the Chameleon X-1 has a 1600 dpi optical sensor, which makes it qualifies it as a gaming mouse, has a right-handed orientation, and about 5 mouse buttons. A sliding switch on the side switches between its mouse and gamepad modes. In the gamepad mode, the optical sensor and mouse buttons are deactivated, except that some side buttons remain active and double up as triggers and bumpers. It has a typical gamepad layout with a D-pad, four face buttons, and two sticks. The mouse connects to the PC wirelessly, using a USB nano-receiver. The new Chameleon X-1 is priced at US $59.99, and is available from October 1.

This is really weird. Would work well for gaming on the go, with a laptop though. Saves on space in your bag.

I agree with the mouse being awesome for laptops, although it would look so awkward using that with a desktop. Actually I want one of these for my laptop... NOW!

Pretty much what M$ charges for their 360 pads at times. But I see this as having much more utility. However, how well it is supported in the drivers I am curious about. The 360 pads are practically plug n play with a lot of games. I had pads in the past which would never do that. You'd have to manually configure them and the configuration options were either real poor or a pain to use. Part of the reason I never have gotten into Rise of Flight. I loved the game and the wealth of potential in it, but I hated trying to configure everything for older sticks which the game didn't like. Ended up using a 360 pad on it and even then it wasn't configured properly. Never could get it working right.

And what happens when your finger slips and you get oil all over the lens? Cool idea but not in execution.

Funky idea... doubtful it does either function very well. Kind of like buying a stereo rack system rather than components (a few people here probably know what that statement means )

I've had nothing but issues with wiredless products; keyboards, mouses and headsets. I can't imagine this being any better. Especially due to the complexity-multifunction of it.

Idea is nice but the actual real world performance looks shitty. I dont know how that thing will be like to hold in your hands as a controller. IDK id rather just lug around a 360 USB controller or blue tooth a PS3 controller.
