help DDD choose a new PSU

my psu passed away again.

So i have decided its time to get a good PSU.

My priorities are:
cheapest possible (stay below 100usd)
atleast 600W,
must last a couple of years.

I have shortlisted the corsair GS600

you can refer to www.primeabgb.com for available products.

Thanks

How many Rs would that be, if we're looking at that site? 4000ish?

Anyway, it would seem that PSU is the best for the price there.

I am second that, the Corsair GS600 is the best you can get with that budget in that site, good manufacturer/model, powerful +12V rail 48A, MBTF 100.000 hours, all safety features, etc

EDIT: I saw the Coolermaster eXtreme Power Plus 650W for 4200, seems good but I think the Corsair one is better, specially the 12V rail

Last edited by Derek12; Oct 9, 2011 at 10:40 AM. Reason: Corrected seems that that PSU is bad :(

If you can live with 500W (and your system specs say you should be able to :P) you could get the FSP Saga II 500W. The only review I've seen is a roundup on Tomshardware though.. But the cheap FSP PSU I have in my system seems to perform decently.

Any thing Seasonic or rebranded from seasonic.

True, I read a few reviews and all coincides it is bad, shame for a brand like Coolermaster Corrected my previous post

I would choose the Corsair, unless there were a better one but I am unable to find one there

most coolermaster PSU's are in fact, quite terrible. even their best units are only equal to the mid range units of brands like corsair and the other top tier brands.

anyway, quit with the trolling. DDD has to grow up and get a real PC some day.

Shame about the limited number of PSUs available though. You can buy an Antec TruePower New 750W for roughly the same price over here, or an FSP 85+ Everest 700W for even cheaper (it's the 80PLUS Bronze, they're better than the previous-gen 80PLUS only Everest).

derek: DDD is a troll magnet. trust me, if i'd left this thread alone it would have gone straight to indian hell.

and no, coolermaster PSU's are not that great. they're available everywhere, but that doesnt mean they're good. their best units are still mostly average multi rail PSU's with low amperage per rail, with only a few exceptions - and their cheap stuff (in DDD's price range) is equivalent to the free PSU that comes with a case (crap.)

my vote goes for that corsair G600 as well, it may be their budget range but shit, 48A on a single 12A rail is better than most PSU's out there. that'd be rated as 750/800W if it was any other brand.

If you are referring to stability issues when OC'ing, then I am in the same boat. I I can't overclock mine CPU even a BIT without getting a damn BSOD (unrecoverable hardware error thing) at boot, but I didn't tried another PSU yet
That's bad luck to get a chip unable to OC
