Speed Problems with OCZ Vertex 2E SSD on New PC Build.
I am having problems with the speed of my OCZ Vertex 2E SSD drive on my new PC build.
The advertised speeds are 250 MB/s Read/Write, but I am getting this crap: ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images...ertex2351.png/ When I first got my SSD drive, I made the mistake of not setting the SATA mode to AHCI in the bios before installing W7 on the drive. I made that same mistake again but have now rectified it.....but noticeably, AS SSD Benchmark doesn't tell me I am in AHCI mode, but IaStor (woteva that is) and 103424K - OK. Any fellow geeks with similar problem in the past got any advice? |

you could get closer to its top end obviously in AHCI mode but in the drives properties turn on write cacheing and turn off the buffer flushing though both carry some data loss risk in a crash scenario they should speed it up it did for me

I had a look in the properties but couldnt see anything about 'write cacheing or buffer flushing'. |

its under the policies tab in the drives properties but you have to have AHCI enabled to see them also
also have you installed intels rapid storage Tech software(10.6 afaik at min) as AFAIK this also helps and comes with the latest AHCI drivers, RAID is doable in it also, but not neccesarily reqd.

Make sure your chipset drivers are up to date.
Turn off: Disk Defrag Superfetch Windows Swarch Disk Indexing Since you did a "workaround" for AHCI make sure TRIM is working by opening a command prompt and typing: fsutil behavior query disabledeletenotify Try running ATTO bench. |

ssd benchmark
first, highly recommend taking any OCZ ssd questions to their forum...
exceptional support with tons of questions already answered. the numbers your getting with AS SSD are fairly normal for single gen 2 ocz. the iastor is 'intel application storage utiliy'... ie intel raid chipset. 103424k is the 'offset' (google for definition) hover the mouse over those items in the AS SSD utility a pop-up will provide information. may also want to change language to 'english'. yours is defaulted to deutsch/german. under 'sprache' (language) choose 'english'. 4K read/write on ssd is not good by with default windows offset/format. not a major problem, ssd don't really shine in performance till 128k-8000k read/writes. as already mentioned, recommend ATTO Benchmark for numbers. below is an old version but it will work: Code:

You have just saved me from a big wild goose chase and a lot of wasted time. Seems there is nothing wrong with my SSD.....just not using the right benchmark or not reading the wrong benchmark the right way. |
