590vs6990

Hey guys, I've been wondering how awesome it would be to get 2 GTX 590s, or 2 HD6990s. I'm running a AMD chip atm, but I might switch to intel (2600k or 2700k when it comes out), and I was wondering which I should get, from what I've read they are about the same, what do you guys think? Btw I'm gunna be WCing them so sound/heat is no problem (:3 isn't having a job as a 14-year-old awesome?!)

What kind of job can a 14 year old get that has a salary worthy enough of 2x 590/6990s? Because I would quit my current job.

Anyway, back on topic. Literally flip a coin. They're pretty much dead even. If you're going to stay with AMD, go 6990. If you're going for Sandy Bridge, go 590.

6990 all the way.... the 590 has been known to let smoke out at times. Especially if oc'd

HD6990 X2 if ur using something sick like three 2560X1600 monitors, otherwise, you are wasting your money for an overkill that will become something you can buy for way less. have heavy 3D needs? dont overkill it, use some of the money to buy something like HD6850 CFX. need some more 3D pawa? then sell them and buy some HD7XXX or GTX6XX that will be actually relevant at this time.
I just dont see ANY reason to buy a couple of 590s or 6990s. as i said, triple sick-resolution monitors just MIGHT be a good reason to do it.

One 6990 should be enough and i really dont see the point of having two of them unless you want to bench all day try to brake some records bragging rights or something like that.
Spend your money wise not just go and spend them all just for pc parts.

I have to agree with cheesy about getting a better monitor/sound system and only one card also to my knowledge the only HAF case to use an X is the HAF-X also known as the HAF 942 (referring to your system specs)

scaling after 2 cards isnt that great, no matter if AMD or NV, cuz of system limitations.

Lol and a huge power suck..er. I'm thinking I should get just one 6990 and a better monitor like some of you said. I'm thinking something benq, 120hz, and about 25inches... The awesome sound system is a bit out of the question because most of the day my family is home, and I don't really want to bother them with the bass of explosions, I might just get a headset I'm thinking a Corsair Vengeance 1500, or if I can get a decent sound card for cheap I might go 1300. Tehehe I also ordered something off newegg not 20 mins ago :3 I'm so excited!

What a waste of money, especially for your other components. You would need to replace literally everything you have to even utilize the cards. Not to mention that quad crossfire is utterly pointless, especially with the monitor you have. More than ONE 6950 with your resolution is completely pointless. Even a 6870 for that matter would be overkill.

I would listen to what the grown ups are saying.

Also just as some personal advice: You should start saving your money now and investing it into something more valuable than parts you can't even use for a computer. (IE: car, gold, CD's, bonds, stock investments, etc). The world economy is failing, and by the time you are an adult it's going to be nearly destroyed. I feel sorry for the youth who are just now entering the world. The previous generations really screwed things up good...

I have already thought about investment, the stock market I convinced my father to dabble in and he made about $300 from it (woo go gold!), but that was a bit too much of a hassle. At this point I just give most of my money to my mother to put in her bank account (because she gets 2% more interest than me). For school(past highschool) I already have planned out, and If I can maintain my current average I should be set to receive a fair amount of scholarships ( one I think is about $5000 a year I'm not sure off the top of my head). A car I don't really have a need for, I will be going to a city with a large amount of buses, and all the major places I'll go I can take the bus. Plus I'm a child, now Is when I'm allowed to spend money on stupid stuff and no one can really say anything, because most of you probably had a pokemon obsession Yeah this is a ton more expensive, but aside from mowing the lawn I don't think at this age most of you guys had jobs...
