System Specs

netbook gaming & more

Hello TPU Team!!!
After manny benchmarks with manny different netbooks and laptop, I wan't to share the results with you all!!!

You guys will be surprised....

We all know, that netbooks where never really meant to be for gaming......well...thats how it used to be!
Netbooks are now being upgradet by manny manufacturers with more high end parts!

The 2 biggest multi-media-netbook-competitors: ASUS & ACER!

Asus with their Dual core ATOM's and Acer with the new AMD Fusion Core.

Both cores are performing well compared to the older single core atoms!
I will compare the "Intel Atom N455 [1.66GHz]", "Intel Atom N570 [2x 1.66GHz]", "AMD Fusion C-30 [1.3GHz]" and "AMD Fusion C-60 [2x 1.33GHz]"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
CPU Performance
[[[A list of what you can expect from each processor]]]
.............................
N455: 480p YouTube / Light Converting / Power Pointing / Light Flash Games
N570: 720p YouTube / Picture Editing / Flash Games / Light 3D Apps / Light Multi Tasking
C-30: 720p YouTube / Picture Editing / Light Flash Games / Office / Extream Low End Games
C-60: 1080p YouTube / Video Editing / Flash Games / Netflix / Some Gaming / Multi Tasking

N455 Pro: Power Saving / Cool Con: Slow / Single Core
N570 Pro: Low power consumtion / Cool / DC Con: Slow for a DC
C-30 Pro: Fast in Single tasks / Low power consumtion Con: Single Core
C-60 Pro: Fast / DC / Turbo boost Technology Con: Highest temps / Power usage in test

Final Ranking:
-----------------

1st: AMD Fusion C-60
2nd: Intel Atom N570
3rd: AMD Fusion C-30
4th: Intel Atom N455

Graphics:----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mannufacturers are also starting to moove away from Intel Graphics.

GPU's in the Test:
-----------------------------------

Intel GMA X3150, NVidia ION [ION2]*, AMD Radeon HD6250, AMD Radeon HD6290
**** = 3FPS / Not Starting
All games on low!!!!

*the ION2 is overall %5-10 faster

X3150: GTA-SA [15-30FPS], CoD4 , CoD-WaW [-----], L4D [2-5FPS]
ION: GTA-SA [20-50FPS], CoD4 [15-35], CoD-WaW [6-20], L4D [12-30]
HD6250: GTA-SA [30-50FPS], CoD4 [15-40], CoD-WaW [7-18], L4D [10-30]
HD6290: GTA-SA [33-52FPS], CoD4 [18-42], CoD-WaW [7-25], L4D [13-38]

1st: HD6290
2nd: ION
3rd: HD6250
4th: X3150

Overall the X3150 sucks!
The othern 3 GPU's are pritty good for Netbooks!!!

==================================================

My suggestion: Buy a Acer Aspire ONE AO722 or a AUS 1215PN if you are planing on being entertained on the go!!!

System Specs

just bought an Acer Aspire ONE AO722 (the one with C-60 APU, 4GB RAM, W7HP 64bit) and i was quite impressed really with its performance. i was hesitant at first due to the 1Ghz processor (1.33 turbo core) but it completely blew me away when i personally tested it since it was really snappy enough despite just clocked at 1Ghz.

good thing i didn't buy the atom n570 variants
