You can use Wrye bash to see which mods were exactly installed in the Savegame so there is no problem man

saves still work without the mods. I tried it earlier today when i installed a different lighting mod instead of the enhanced shaders and the same saved worked.

If you are installing something that hasn't an .ESP or ESM then it doesn't make any change in the savegame, those are just replacers.

It'll say "some files are missing, do you want to continue?" when you start the same save without mods. But it'll load without a problem usually.

I'm starting a new game. What race should I go with? I've been dark elf and nord. I was very happy with my dark elf, I can stand in fire and not take any damage. But since I can't seem to find a fix for my problem that doesn't involve going back to a save where I'm only at level 20, I'm just gonna start over.

I'm also gonna be a girl this go round. girly orcs don't look very good...

Only issue ive found with this lighting mod is some lighting draws in.

So wait. a Save game that when played used a ESp file. if you try to load that save again without that ESP file it wont work?

Nevermind the light draw in thing is apparently a game issue.

it depends on the complexity of the mod. For some it will only give a warning that some elements are no longer present, for more complex mods (like race, quest, story, script mods) it may break the game. I remember in oblivion crashing the game when it loads due to missing mod file, wrye bash can detect some issues if i remember correctly.

Yes, Viper is right, also if you are loading a save inside a cell that is not modified by an esp/esm then you can proceed to load it without any problem.
Problems arise if you try to load a save that's located inside an house added by esp and the esp is deactivated, chances are that you won't be able to load it without a CTD.

I'm getting occasional CTDs since the latest patch.
Seems to only happen when opening/examining something (chests, bodies, books, etc).
It happens intermittently (not time played based) and not often enough for me to detect a trend (like how full inventory was at the time, etc).
I never got a CTD proir to this update. The only mods I use are SkyUI (with SKSE) and the Dovahkiin Hideout.

Looking forward to poking around with the toolkit when it's available.

Has anyone else had any problems using the Enhanced Shaders mod from the S.T.E.P. ? It messed up my lighting horribly for some reason and I am really looking for a good shadow/lighting mod.

get that shadow one i uploaded. Ive gone away from FXAA and ENBseries. One because the coloring and stuff with those is really overly saturated and they kill FPS. check this out. Its what Irony and I are currently using. a New version is coming out either today or tomorrow to fix the java script to update the .esp when you change values in the .ini file.

EDIT: nvm 2.1 is out now so itll all work if you change the .ini files and run the java script to update the esp

Ah, btw, on playground.ru i actually saw pretty orc. Some guy spend some time (2 hours i think) with character editor.

Sure though if they had a bunch of mods could be hairy. Various saves are even made available for download for games like this such as at Fileplanet. At least there was for Morrowind and Oblivion.

Yes, you can. You can safely ignore things like texture mods, but those, who change gameplay can screw up the save game.
