Case Fan strange noise

Ok, so I have recently purchased 2 x Aerocool Sharks 140mm which are attached to a fan controller. Lately, one of the fan started to make a strange whirring noise if fan speed is set to MED or HIGH. Moreover, if I move my hand or use something to block some of the airflow coming out, the noise stops, but starts again as soon as I remove it. Any ideas or fixes? Or should I just send it back?

I had that problem in one of my cases with a bottom 80mm fan I ended up putting a bit of tape over some of the holes as it wasn't seen, you could try the other fan to see if it makes the noise aswell.

I tried adding some oil lubricant this morning but didnt have enough time to test it out for a long period, though the sound was almost immediately gone. I'll have a better look once i get home.

Anyway, i guess this is only a temporary solution and the fan will fail at some point later on...
