Server motherboards/CPUs
So I recently got a decent server mobo/2 intel Xeon Nocona cpus/2GBsDDR2/and heatsinks for free from work. The thing is I've never messed around with them too much. I was planning on making a nice little home server or the likes but was unsure on what OS to run.
Recommendations? |

If you're not familiar with Linux and want something like Windows Server, you can get a basic Technet subscription for $150 and get keys for almost any MS product. It won't cover somethings like Visual Studio, but I think all of the OS products are included.
AFAIK, the keys remain good even after the 1 yr subscription expires, but you'll need to check on that. Also, write down the keys since you can still access your account after it expires but can't pull up the keys any more. |
