GPU upgrade path question

OK guys I have some question here. I'm looking to upgrade my GPU here since GTS 250 struggles to play newer games such as Metro 2033 and I have yet to play Battlefield 3 and Skyrim. I'm game at 1920x1080 resolution. Thing is I have enough money to buy GTX 570 but there are few problem preventing me to buy it immediately:

1) I only have 500W old CoolerMaster iGreen PSU. It does certified for SLi back then and have two 6-pin PCIe power connector and a total of 33A on all the three rails combined (396W on 12V rail). Some might say no but take this into consideration: Major components on my system is undervolted; DDR voltage (1.8V instead of the required 2V), CPU voltage (1.2V instead of 1.4V, that alone saves ~30W from PSU calculator) and other voltage is set at its lowest value, and if I buy GTX 570 I just going to undervolt until its stable running at stock clock. The PSU never runs hot even if I overclocked to 3.8GHz 1.35V with GPU fully loaded, so I may think my PSU still being able to cope with it

2) Waves of new cards going to come out next year, so instead of wasting money buying top of the line GPU I think I'd better opt for midrange cards such as GTX 460/560 non Ti and save bucketloads of money and be ready for Kepler.

So guys, I need your insight, which direction should I take? Or do you have a better options please do share. Thanks in advance

If you won't upgrade your power supply then I suggest a 6950 2GB. That will give you much better performance in Metro 2033 and BF3. And hope your power supply has enough overhead that it can handle things, because it won't handle a higher draw Nvidia gpu at high load -- not without risk of burning something out. A 6950 2GB would be pushing the limits, and it draws less power than a 560 Ti or 570.

If you are willing to upgrade your power supply to something better quality and a bit higher wattage, like 650 or 750 watts, go for a 570, or an overclocked 560 Ti.

Im not the best with Power supplies, but from what i know. The Older Cooler MAster PSU like one you have were pretty mediocre and i dont think they could even push 500w. (looked it up and shows the 12v rails all together have about 390w.) I would if you can cough up the money get a new PSU.

I wouldnt pass up that $94 price on that PSU right now

And then for a GPU if you need one NOW id probably get a HD6950 2GB. If you went with the 2nd choice I would still get a new power supply for future proof reasons. So AMD cards are coming im pretty sure Q1 next year and nvidia cards that matter to you come around Q2 2012

TX650 + 6950 2Gb or even the 6870 1Gb would be a great improvement

i wouldnt get a 6870 if he plays Metro 2033 @ 1920 x 1080.

Thanks guys, I'm browsing around the shop and I decided to save some cash and buy a cheap XFX HD 5870 + Vantec Ion2+ 600W PSU instead. I save some money for other things, since I already have GTS 250 I'm going to use it for PhysX duty
