GTX 560 ti - failure to power on?
Yesterday I received a GTX 560ti 2GB from EVGA. The first time I booted it up it worked flawlessly. The second time I tried turning on my PC with this card, the monitor would not display anything. Again it did it this morning. The fan was indeed spinning both times. I heard a POST message both times as well.
To fix the issue in both cases, I turned off the power, opened my case, and inspected the card/power cables. All three are firmly inserted. After turning the power back on it loads into Windows fine. Yesterday I played BF3, ArmA 2 and some other games for a few hours with no issues. When the card does boot with the system, the actual "fan speed increase time" is noticable longer than my previous GTX 260. Is there something wrong with my card? PSU specs: ![]() System specs: Antec Earthwatts 500 - I was told this would be plenty of power (had no issues when gaming). 2.5 years old. ASUS M3N78 Pro Motherboard Corsair XMS2 - 4x DIMMs, 8GB total AMD 965 WD FALS HDD Samsung 223F DVD/CD Drive 2x case fans 1x PCI Card GTX 560ti 2GB - Upgraded from GTX 260 216 Superclocked Some updates of my findings: I've tried replicating the above a few more times. I reseated the card and power cables beforehand. Same issue. I have determined the following: 1) When I turn on the PC (from a previous normal shut down via Windows) the video card fails to display anything. I can not see my motherboard POST screen or Windows. The fan spins, but there is nothing displayed on my screen. My monitor acts as if there is no video card (light is red rather than blue). However, after a delayed time period (10-15 seconds longer than normal) I do hear the POST beep. I hear the HDD accessing, and it seems as if Windows is loading. I have tried both DVI ports on the video card. 2) When I unplug the power, and replug it in, turn it on, it works fine. For some reason a normal shut down disables the card from displaying anything upon the next start up. Unplugging the power fixes this issue. This makes me think it is the video card. Yesterday I played BF3 continuously for a few hours with no issues, I would think that would draw more power than at POST? Does anyone think it is the PSU being insufficient or a video card issue? The psu is sufficiant but might be faulty and it sounds like it might be related. Then theres the MB or the GFX card. You'll need to test this with another psu and then go from there.

Thanks for the replies. I don't have a spare PSU to test with, but I do have a replacement video card on the way. If the replacement still has the issue I am leaning towards PSU. It is over 2 years old, nearing 3.
The motherboard might be damaged to, but I would think that if the motherboard has issues they would have shown up over the past few years with my GTX 260 216. |

Well I had a problem just like this a few years back. The motherboard in question didn't want to show anything on the monitor with one particular card. Tested the card on 2 other setups and I had image and also tried the 2 other card vise versa and would get an image with the motherboard. It was just this 1 card for no particular reason. Didn't even RMA since they would have wanted the board and the card aswell.

Just looking at your P.S.U pic say,s it all max load on the 12v Rail is only 22 Amps,
looks like your p.s.u.s cutting it short |
