^ HD 6870 2gb

Games like BF3 will benefit GREATLY with the 2gb VRAM. Definitely go with this. You'll thank your self if you do.

6870

6870 is a very good buy but I did see GTX 560 Ti cards for $199 after rebate at various online stores ...

funny thing is many people will rate the GTX 560 Ti as the better choice but you can find many benchmarks where the 6870 beats it especially at higher resolutions and I am talking about the 1 GB editions ....

I purchased a GTX 560 Ti with the intention of SLI'ing but the 6870 is the better deal

2GB AMD6870 # $209.99 # $179.99 with Rebate # $7.56 Shipping, can overclock it to same or better than 560Ti.

2GB for MW3 / BF3 is a must / money well spent,
2GB vram then 6870 is a better deal, not sure if you can find a 2Gb 560Ti for under $200.

Check your power supply and what you might need for a newer card.

But if you overclock a 560Ti it will surpass GTX570 performance, if he overclocks then he would overclock the 560Ti as well From what i understand BF3 will only eat over a GB of graphics memory if you play on Ultra ABOVE 16XX resolution? I could be wrong there though.

From what I can see, whichever way you care to look at it, even at stock the 560Ti wins over the 6870 even at stock ..........

So many people keep saying "Driver Problems" I am running a pair of 6870s in xfire and I haven't had a problem yet. I vote wait for next generation, but if you can't I vote 6870...then add another later for some sweet xfire action.

You're talking as if AMD driver is rendering the card virtually useless... Yes, nVidia drivers tend to be more reliable with higher AA options, however AMD's current drivers work just fine. It comes down on what features (bang for buck), or what kind of cooler you want out of a card. Looking at these charts, I'd say he can't go wrong with either one. 6870 against 560 Ti is a tie depending on games.

I got a fucking gtx580 and nvidia driver still gives me some problem. nothing is perfect now. amd and nvidia are the same. some just listens to other and tell what others think, but they have not ever experienced it themselves. go to nvidia driver forum and ull see a ton of nvidia driver problem, this doesn't happen to AMD only nowadays.

I ran both ATi/AMD and nVidia for years. When I had HD 2900 CF, the majority of my issues were due to the lack of CF profiles (which didn't exist at the time). It was a serious problem that forced me to change application names, which kicked me out of Steam servers in Source. Now I haven't had such problem on nVidia (or SLi) but it's common knowledge that nVidia drivers tend to be more stable. They cooperate with game developers and screw up less. But that's not to say AMD's drivers are total garbage. The issues I had are solved, and so there's little to nothing wrong with running single card (let it be nVidia/AMD). That is as long as you know what you're doing.

OMG, Ive nevee read more misinformarion and fanboyism in one thread.
Ive run SLI and CF setups since 2005 and I can honestly say that Ive had more issues with Nvidia drivers than Ive ever had withAMD. And all you Nvidia fanboys love to forget that Nvida actually released drivers that KILLED cards, brand spankin new cards out of the box burned up. Oh how convenient an Nvidia fanboys memory can be.
That said, the newer line of Nvidia cards are actually pretty nice. The 560Ti is about as powerful as a 5870, however the 560Ti's scale a helluva lot better. As a matter of fact 2 560Ti's will SMOKE a 580 to the tune of 2000 points in 3d mark 11. They perform VERY well.
However, for the same price you can get a 6950 2GB which will outperform the 560Ti.
Quite honestly I dont think the 560 (non Ti) should even be an option. The 6870's are nice but for the same price you can get a 5870 which will outperform the 6870.
As for the amount of Vram, at the OP's resolution, its not really a concern.

This post is nonsense.

First off, I'd like to say you're the fanboy here buddy. nVidia cards don't scale "better". Read up.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...g,2865-10.html

That said, labeling me as an nVidia fanboy is idiotic (and fanboyism) at best, while I'm trying to keep my posts unsided. nVidia has had SLi profiles. Do you have an idea on what that is? It means you have game specific profiles for easy management. ATi/AMD didn't until 2010. And that was pretty late considering CrossFire came out in 05. They lacked CF in more games than SLi lacked. In sober fact, SLi supported lots of games when CF supported only a few. Oh well.

First off, I wasn't talking to you directly. More of a generalization to the other crap I read in this thread. So no need to attack me, and calling my post nonsense is unfounded.

From my post, of whom am I a fanboy? Hmmmm??? I recommend 560Ti's and 5870's BASED ON THE OP's NEEDS. I dissuade from mediocre cards because they're not worth the money. I don't recommend a multiGPU setup because of his resolution, and in the same right, why I don't even recommend 2GB cards because of the low resolution he's going to be playing at. 2GB of VRAM wont net him any sort of improvement over a 1GB card. Once again, I am answering the OP's NEEDS and not some theory that people have concocted in their heads as to who is better simply out of fanboyism. Both manufacturers make great cards, and both have had their issues.

And why are you trying to insult my intelligence? I don't have 764 REP over at OCN for no reason there buddy boy. It's not because I spread a lot of fanboyish misinformation. I look at the cold hard facts, couple that with my experience and base a conclusion. Official SLI or CFX profiles have little to do with ACTUAL scaling. For the most part, with very few exceptions, you will ALWAYS notice an improvement when running multi-GPU setups. Whether officially supported or not, there will almost always be a frame rate boost; with the rare exception where it actually hinders it. Sure it may not raise MAX FPS, but it will almost always raise the min and avg.

And furthermore, how is my post nonsense in regard to Nvidia's drivers? The 196.75 drivers burned up cards. Total nonsense there.
Then there's my experience with Nvidia, they released the 180.xx driver, it made some games unplayable with my 8800's. BF2142 for instance. When going inside the Titan the screen would turn totally white and artifacts all over the place. Contacted Nvidia and they blamed my hardware (of course) yet they worked perfectly with the 175.19 driver. I guess that's nonsense too.

With AMD, I haven't had nearly as many issues. I've run 4870's in crossfire. No issues there whatsoever. Ran 2 5870's and a 5850, still no issues. The first issue I've EVER had with an ATi product is with this 6950 not wanting to clock all the way up to 3D clocks. But that is yet to be determined. It's a very good possibility that this card is going to be RMA'd.

I'm no fanboy of either. I like both, but ATi, overall, has been better to me. Less hassles, good performance, and a great price. Although, lately I've been coming back around to Nvidia. As a matter of fact, I have 6 Nvidia products n my possession as opposed to only 1 ATi.

And lastly, why wouldn't you get the 5870 over the 560Ti? Almost identical performance and yet a 5870 costs $100 less.

Battlefield 3, Crysis 2??? with 2GBs of ram on a low clocked dual core.

Add another 2GBs and you might get away medium/low/medium settings considering the low resolution!

I'll give credit where credit is due. I'm not a fanboy of wither camp. I'm actually running an Nvidia card now (560Ti) and the performance has been surpisingly good. Haven't had any issues with their drivers since the previous time. And I think at that time, the only reason I even had an issue with them was because they were blanketing older hardware (G80, G92) with the Fermi based cards and something wasn't jiving. They seem to have resolved that issue now.

You're clearly a fanboy since you posted off topic garbage (nVidia fan speed bug) to defend your lovely AMD.

I don't care who you are or how much rep you have. Where did I say scaling and profiles are related? The two have nothing to do with each other. More going off topic to claim your rightfulness.

That was a specific case. It happened once, people were informed about their bugged fan speeds, and fixed in a very short time. To come up with that as an example is again, nonsense at best. If you're going to make an example, talk about something proper like AA levels to claim one is better than the other.

Then you didn't have an idea what you're running. With 4870 cards, CF didn't work in many known titles including HL2 and Source.

I would, but that's not the point of this discussion. For me to choose a card, the OP needs to link to a shop, which he hasn't done. All you've given him is AMD fanboy garbage.

Healthy debate is good, a couple of you have already reduced that to insults.... continue in this vein and I will be handing out infractions, continue your debate as you both have some valid points, just do so in a civil manner...... thank you!

your monitor resolution is 1360 x 768.so 1GB VRAM is more than enough for that resolution.I hope you have a good 500W psu to handle it
