Intel Core i7-3930K And Core i7-3820: Sandy Bridge-E, Cheaper
The Core i7-3820 is due for release in 2012, but Tom's Hardware has managed to get its paws on one and review it against its bigger brother. What do they think of it? Click the link.

I'd also put this link up here in this thread. (US only, except RI)
It's in the last page of the review.

Productivity wise is a no brainer choice, 6 core 3930k all the way.
If you pick a 3930K to game though you just wasted money. |

a bit disappointing that a 2600K is better... I was hoping that the OC would be stable around 4.5~4.6Ghz at the very least. It seems that clock for clock the 2600K is exactly equal to the 3820. I was hoping for a tiny improvement

I know, that's exactly how I felt when SB-E first came out. All they've done with it is expand it from 4 cores to 8. Ivy Bridge increases core performance and the eventual "IB-E" when it comes out I expect would have the same performance, but again with 8 cores, or more, depending on how things have advanced at that point.

but i also use programs like 3ds max which a 2700K would be slower on rendering.

![]() Which renderer are you using by the way? I'm looking to decrease times overall with some queue rendering when my new chip arrives
