Akasa Power Extreme 1200w Gamer Power Supply

I have had this PSU for about 3 years and I just moved house. My other half had plugged it in for me and and it was working fine a few days ago (in the new house) then yesterday the pc was powering up and there was a loud pop followed by a burning smell. The smell is coming from the PSU and I unplugged it all - when unplugging the unit I noticed that the socket on the wall was hanging slighty off - My partner said it was like this all the time - I plugged the PC into another socket and there was no response from the PSU - does this mean its now dead and buried and I need to buy another one?

Many thanks

As long as your sure the outlet your trying to use works, seems that way. Hopefully the PSU didn't take out any of your other hardware.

You'll have to test everything in another rig to be sure what's dead and what's not.

Really hope only the psu died and he was kind enough to go alone...

Is it normal for a PSU to just blow like that?

Well from your OP, it seems like there is a problem with the outlet you tried to use. If the outlet shorted out, it could have killed anything electrical plugged into it, whether that was a computer, a TV, or just a light. That's why your ALWAYS suppose to use surge protector with electronics.
