Apple Wins ITC Patent Case Against HTC, US Import Ban is Pending

These holidays are being quite kind to Apple as after over a year and a half of investigating, the US ITC (International Trade Commission) has ruled that HTC has indeed violated two of its patents. According to the ITC ruling, HTC is infringing on patents No. 5,946,647 which covering a 'system and method for performing an action on a structure in computer-generated data' and No. 6,343, 263 relating to a 'real-time signal processing system for serially transmitted data'.

As a result of this decision the ITC will be issuing an exclusion order (beginning April 19, 2012) that will prevent US imports of infringing HTC Android devices (the ITC didn't specify which products are affected by this).

Shortly after the ITC announced its decision, HTC came out to say it respects the findings and is working to remove/work around Apple's patented technology so the import ban will have minimum effect on its US business.

I looked up those patents, WTF
http://www.google.com/patents/US5946647
http://www.google.com/patents?id=1wE...%20263&f=false

I'm not sure about the first one, it seems to be some kind of intelligent autoexec (like intelligent mouse cursor placement?) tl;dr

The second is a contrast enhancement

In Industry terms....Its called 'C-O-M-P-E-T-I-T-I-O-N'

If they can hinder or stop a competing brand from selling their wares then its a +1 for them. For instance...Apple stopped Samsung from selling the Galaxy SII in Germany and possibly a few other contries, which means Apple retains its dominance/marketshare.

yeah competition is in market not in the court. apple somehow i think wanna cut the other competitors by using law before they hit the market too much. patent is the matter, remember when apple sue the other brand coz they make it looks like ipad? if apple really serious they should sue (maybe more than 50 brands) coz of it.
apple wanna stay dominan by suing other close competitors maybe
i dunno :spin: :spin:

There is some vital info missing from this story... senor Christian....
The ban is for HTC Android Devices with versions 1.6 to 2.2, HTC is only currently selling some type lowbudget devices with 2.2 which will be updated to 2.3 before april. So it wont hurt HTC at all.

The dutch version of this story with a bit more detail. use google translate if you like to read it.
