Need help dual booting XP on Win 7 machine

Ok, I want to dual boot my main rig running Win7 x64 with XP pro SP3. Now I am pretty sure I can do this, but tbh it has been that long that I am a little unsure and would like some clarification, here is where I am at already:

Win7 x64 installed on SSD
2TB HDD partitioned into 1.75TB and 250GB (for XP)
Intel AHCI driver downloaded from Intel site... and this is what I am unclear of cause it really has been that long

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...er%22&lang=eng this is the AHCI driver I downloaded to perform the "Press F6 to load drivers" first off:
A) is this the correct driver?
B) can I run this from a USB stick?
C) is there anything I have missed?

Afaik I am going to boot from dvd drive, start Win XP setup, press F6 and load AHCI driver, install to 250GB HDD partition and then run a boot loader to get both options on start up, correct or no?

OK, so just answered one of my own questions regarding the AHCI driver on USB stick, it won't read the stick with the files just copied onto a formatted USB drive. Do I need to format it as a floppy and then add the AHCI driver?

Rapid response needed as looking to get cracking on this right away!!

If you mean for xp then yes i think the usb stick has to be made into a floppy seeing as thats what xp asks for when installing it.

From the few mins I have spent googling so far ( I google everything) it seems you cannot install the AHCI driver from USB and instead have to create a custom install CD with Nlite with the drivers integrated, any info on how to do it with USB drive is welcome and gets a cookie!!

No. Either floppy or they have to be integrated in windows xp cd. If you don't know how then:

One way around it might be to do the reg trick, Load xp in ide mode then once all setup go into the registry and change it to AHCI mode if it lets you, As its xp im not sure if you would have to try install the drivers first or if you have to set AHCI mode before it will take the drivers.

Looks like its not as easy to do as it is with windows 7.

Some info here http://blog.mytwocents.it/?p=11

It doesn't work for all drivers/controllers, it's like dice rolling.

Integration of ahci in xp cd takes less than 1 min btw
