Logitech Unveils Full-HD Webcam for 1080p Video Calling

Logitech today unveiled the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920, making it easier than ever to capture full-HD 1080p video that's faster and smoother and performs well on more computers. The device offers breathtaking quality, allowing friends and loved ones to see and hear the real you.

"People are increasingly relying on video calling to maintain far flung connections," said Todd Walker, brand manager at Logitech. "Whether chatting with friends, family or co-workers, they want to be seen at their best through a sharp, high-quality image. The Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 can provide just that as the first webcam to offer 1080p video calling, thanks to our collaboration with Skype."

The Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 captures full-HD 1080p video for connecting with friends using Skype or in HD 720p for Windows Live Messenger. Thanks to H.264 advanced compression technology, you can upload full-HD 1080p video clips or 15 MP photos quickly and with one click to Facebook, Twitter or YouTube (account required). To enjoy 1080p HD video calling you'll need to download the latest version of Skype, Skype 5.7 Beta for Windows.

Logitech Fluid Crystal Technology is what sets a Logitech webcam apart. In addition to smoother video motion without annoying choppiness, you get sharper pictures, richer colors and clearer sound - so your loved ones will literally see and hear more of you - even if you don't have the newest computer on the market. The Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 also features Carl Zeiss optics and a premium 20-step autofocus, Logitech's smoothest, most responsive autofocus yet. And because being heard is just as important as being seen, two mics positioned on either side of the webcam capture natural stereo audio.

The Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 is expected to be available in the U.S. and Europe beginning in January 2012 for a suggested retail price of $99.99.

Very nice. Skype HD requires build in video encoding, which this must have.

$99 for this isn't a bad deal.

Since you're too lazy to look at the official product page, I can inform you that it does 30fps, at least that's according to Logitech's spec.

Same as C910, software is different. Buy C910 for less if Skype is not important. I have c910. I'm gonna try c920 software with c910.

Nice. A lot of the cam ladies will probably be upgrading. Quite a few have the earlier Logitech Webcam Pro 9000.

It needs USB3

while the spec says upto 1080p and 30fps this doesn't mean 1080p at 30fps!

To encode 1080p well in real time you need some serious computing power, this will not have that so it will be encoding very poorly.

My advice, wait for a 1080p webcam on USB3.

How do i get my image large like 'TheLostSwede'?

Probably the image quality will be the same as Creative`s one. Can output 1080p@30fps but the quality is EXACTLY like in 480p. And yes, is USB 2.0

bah, i dont reccomend it

i have c910, it doesn't have a quickshot button, doesnt have the role to fit universal tripod, cable is too short, image quality is almost equal from 9000pro.. lame software, only thing that really impressed me on it was the sound, stereo sound with two powerful mics, the rest is lame..

c920 is probably sameshit, as the guy above said: WAIT FOR SUPER QUALITY CAMS WITH USB 3.0, those ones will worth the buy, with sure

If you were to view a webcam in a window, as most do, on a 1920x1080 monitor and the webcam window was using say 1/4 of your desktop space, then the image in the window is only 969x540. Unless your viewing the webcam full-screen on a monitor 1080 or higher, I don't see the point.

I see a trend of bigger bigger, more more, shiny shiny, new new, buy buy buy even though you'll never use it.

@Lazzer408

you are forgetting the real reason webcams were invented, so you can capture your room without a big camcorder running!!
