Need some help for choosing one of those boards
Hello everyone,
I was contemplating between 3 LGA1155 Z77 motherboards essentially: - MSI Z77A GD65 - Gigabyte Z77 UD3H or UD5H - Asus P8Z77-V Pro I am currently considering the MSI board since it seems like a good choice for price and features: http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=69234 One of my concerns is about the cpu cooler, there's a 10$ off rebate on ncix for this one right now: http://www.ncix.ca/products/index.php?sku=47090 I just want to be sure it won't obstruct the RAM slots. I will be getting either one of these RAM sticks: http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=5 [...] omoid=1265 (that was my first choice) http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=5 [...] re=Corsair (that's my second choice, but it might be better to get those since they are low profile). I'd like to have some opinions on that choice asap because i want to order today so that it gets there next week. And, if you have other less obstructing cpu coolers to suggest, please tell me! |

Cooler: Corsair H100. No probem with ram clearance, ever.
you ram links don't work ![]() UD3H is cheaper than the MSI by $30, UD5H non-WiFi, is just $3 more than the MSI. I got a UD5H...great board.

Okay cool, well i've had good experiences with Gigabyte in the past, never had anything wrong with their products, but it's nice to hear some positive feedback. I don't care much for the wi-fi honestly.
Not sure why the links don't work but here they are again. My fist choice: http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=594...r&promoid=1265 My second choice: http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=554...acture=Corsair I'm not sure if there's even a performance difference between the two anyways. |

Nah, no real performance differences, perhaps there's a wee difference in overclocking ability. XMS is meant more for mid-range buyers, Vengeance for gamers, and Dominators for overclockers.
With the D14, I suggest getting the XMS modules, for clearance reasons. The Vengeance sticks will have clearance issues for sure, hence Corsair also sells the Vengeance LP sticks. Any of them should work fine in the Gigabyte board.

Gigabyte UD5H is a very good board for the price...... read the reviews here....
It is half the price of AsusP8Z77-V Premium but performs better than it in most cases... So i will go for Gigabyte(I have had gigabyte board for more than 6 years & till now not a single problem) http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-...articleContent |
