BIOS update

Hi all. So I'm wanting to update my bios, but I'm afraid to because of somewhat conflicting information. CPU-z says my motherboard is the nForce 750i SLI MCP which is part number 123-YW-E173 on EVGA's website. The part number on the sticker which is actually on the board is 123-YW-E175 which is the FTW edition of the same board. I was under the impression that it was the FTW edition (got the board used from a friend)
Also it says my BIOS is from Phoenix Technologies LTD. Why is it not EVGA's?

any help is much appreciated so thanks in advance!

Sometimes CPU-z will display the wrong motherboard info. Like my Biostar I have at home is a 7050-M2 but displays some random numbers and letters under model.

If the model number PRINTED on the board is 123-YW-E175 then I would flash the FTW bios. Can you take a picture of this motherboard please.

Ok, Here are the two motherboards. Take a look and tell us which link your board looks like

123-YW-E175

Or

Honestly, I would check to see if its a socketed bios and if it is, buy another one off ebay (They are around 9$ shipped) then once it arrives, just hot swap the bios out while its booted into the bios screen then flash the new one and if it doesn't work just pop back in your old bios. I have done this many times with A 785G board and my Asus Rampage II Gene.

dude, CPU-z wont read the FTW edition, all that means is better OC ability. my xfx 750i was an extreme edition, it NEVER said anything else than nForce 750i SLI MCP in CPU-z
all the FTW means is it overclocks like a badass

ah, so would you say that I'm good for the update? If so should I just do the one off EVGA's website?
