Try Witcher 2 first MailMan, even if just for an hour.

You probably won't regret it.

Everyone I know who tried Witcher 2 was disappointed. From what I read in this thread people claimed it was a different game for all the reasons they criticized DA2 for. DA dumbs down combat, "CRAP CONSOLE GAME BULLSHIT RAWRRRR", Witcher 2 dumbs down combat, "IT'S GLORIOUS!!!"

There are very very few bugged quests, and they usually only pop up when you do something like clear every single cave before going and talking to the Greybeards. The UI is a subjective matter, I think it works pretty well. The AI pathing in most games is absolute garbage, I never saw any major issues with it in Skyrim. As for Character having no effect, that's because it's an open world game. By definition most of these games result in you not feeling like you have a huge effect. There are definitely moments where you feel more like you have an effect though, but they are mostly tied to the main story line. Obviously you going spelunking in a cave for someone's favorite book isn't a world-changing event.

Now, the Combat system definitely has its flaws, but I think they pull it off pretty well. I would say you have the order of balance mixed up. Archery > Melee > Spells. The Spells are completely underwhelming. The main problem is that they just don't scale with anything. There's no Int or Spell Power stat to passively increase the damage your spells do, and that makes it feel like they are always underwhelming. Where you can enchant and improve your Bow or Axe to be a killing machine, you cannot improve your spells at all, minus a few enchantments to lower the mana cost.

Now in buildings and such im getting 50 and then a lot of times it caps and stays at 60FPS outside though im still getting 30 to 40fps, but it does feel smoother.

Yeah, really good patch. I noticed that I'm constantly pegged at 60 fps now. I decided to turn off vsync/triple buffering to see what kind of FPS I get now. Here's the results with the mods I'm using:

That's walking from the gate in Solitude to the Blue palace at around 8:45am on a sunny day.

I would not recommend turning vsync off using iPresentInterval as it can make some things screwy, I just did it for testing purposes.

i5 2500K @ 4.6ghz and HD 7970 @ 1125/1500.

in my case i disabled vsync using ipresentinterval command but enabled framelimit to 60 iin nVidia inspector, as the vsync function can sometimes make weird input lags >_>

Well everyone was saying how much time they were spending on it so I thought I would much rather live with bad graphics and being able to sit on my comfy couch than decent graphics and a sore back

Dovakiin's (not sure I spelled that right) hideout - available at Skyrim Nexus.

It's really great.

Yeah...but it's just not the same when it's not all brand new. While I can see the allure of wanting to try diff char builds, frankly, I don't understand people that have started over multiple times. The repetitiveness of the early parts of the game would drive me nuts (even with a save that got me past most of the carriage ride and what not).

Unfortunately the part of the allure for playing this game over again is to see if I can get through certain quests which bugged out before.

I won't be installing the BETA patch, I'll be waiting for the official release.
