Asus M5A97 EVO - OC Guide?
I made a build for a friend of mine and he wants me to overclock it for him.
Not sure how to overclock for AMD (as I have never owned AMD before). Does anybody know how to overclock on this particular board? Or a guide? He'll be running the FX-4100 CPU. Can't seem to find any info on the internet. |

Here's Cadaveca TPU reviews- they may help you get started
*note- M5A99X is similar to that board as well. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/M5A97_EVO/ http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/M5A99X_EVO/ Check in the FX overclockers thread here too- I think a couple of folks there have a 4100

I had teh board, but do not any longer. I still have the M5A99X EVO though, and an FX-4100. I get 4.6 GHz @ 1.50v.
IF you have some specific questions, I can point you in the right direction. What i can start off with is that you can adjust both the bus and the multiplier. USe bus for memroy clocking, and multi to get the CPU speed up. CPU-NB clocking (memory controller speed) is basically useless, so that's one thing from PhenomII that you do not need to worry about. |

Set your ram for what it's rated at and just bump cpu multiplier.. Dave's insight will probably guide you better as even though I did own the board I never ran an FX chip on it.

M5A97 EVo is pretty as easy as you get when coming to overclocking.
i build using one. and the maual is still lying under my bed(where it fell and slipped into :P ) FX is a black edition. so you just increase the CPU multiplier. it is somewhere in the AI Tweaker Tab. you can give volts till 1.45. dont need to overvolt to compensate for VRM loss. this board is kick as stable when it comes to stable voltages. its shockingly stable! sorry but thats all the help i can give. the board isnt with me anymore. i wish i could own one! this baord is simply ass kicking awesome!
