Well I tired every way from sunday to unlock the shaders on this card, but none SEEMS to have done it.

I tried just moving the switch to the 1 postion, nope
Flashed the bios using RBE, nope
modded bios using RBE to 6970 shaders then flashed, nope
Flashing the bios using atiwinflash, nope
flashed via cmd prompt and atiwinflash, nope
turned off pc after flashing then back on, re-installing drivers, nope

GPU-Z still shows 1408 shaders. Grr!
I followed the procedures on this site and others which were more or less the same. Maybe I have an unlockable card, but the flashing seems to go well. I saw errors at first flash, but since then they all seemed to end normally, with a request to reboot for the change ot take effect.

I am still on the "1" position on the card, and its running fine, just no shader unlock.

Anyone know what I might still need to do/ can do? Anywhere else to see if shaders are unlocked?

Sounds like you did a pretty thorough job and unfortunately it also sounds like it just isn't unlockable. :ohwell:

In October 2011, I bought a 100312-3SR and it unlocked via the switch. I'm going to guess your card is probably a specific board model with a truly defective Cayman chip (a regular 6950) versus a fully functional model (6970 capable). There are tons of versions of the 100312 floating around.

My card: SAPPHIRE 100312-3SR Radeon HD 6950 Dirt3 Edition 2...
