Talking Help please. Is this mobo CrossfireX capable

Hi,
This will sound strange I bet, but I need some help. I have a Dell Precision T5400 and from the factory it list's in its features that it supports 2 PCIe 2.0x16 slots. Now here is where it gets weird. I bought my first AMD GPU, an MSI HD 5770, a perfect card for the $. I loved it and instantly wanted more. I trolled the local craigslist until I found a good one, (I thought) I bought a ASUS CUCORE off of some guy and that thing had more issues that I could have ever known. At first my system couldnt start the card. I got error 43. I messed around for days. Finally I got it to actually work. (I think I used the windows default drivers for it, not the VGA basic ones. But Some drivers that I found in my C: drive)
Now in CCC its actually showed the Crossfirex enabled / disabled selection. I turned it on. Then I messed around with Kombustor and noticed that both GPU's were being represented. Finally, before it would show only my main GPU working. Then the worst happened I got infected with a nasty virus and had to make this "temp" W7 installation. So all the things I have done I cannot go back and check. And also I sold that horrid card. But, I found a good program that shows me detailed info on my system. And that my friends is where I need your help. Im at the point of buying a mobo for my QX9650 but all the boards in my $ range are PCIe 2.0 x16 & 2.0 x 8. I dont know why. (seperate issue) I have my systems spec to show to you in hopes that someone can tell me if I can run crossfirex on my machine before I go shell out $ on a second HD 5770. Please help. Thank you.

Thanks my friend. I didnt want to seem too slow, but honestly Im new to this area of technology. But from my experiences I have seen programs read out things that they in now way should have.

I had to come here and ask because Dell didnt even know what I was talking about. (yeah right)

Well this means I can go find another MSI 5770 for my box. Im stoked, Thanks a million mate!

Looks like it supports crossfire probably only in a 16x + 4x configuration going from the above pictures you should have probably checked the link width when you had both cards fitted and working with GPUz

Belive me I tried, but I had a crisis at around that time. And afterwards when I tried again on this install of windows. That other ASUS GPU was on some boo boo tripping code 43 issue again. SO I got rid of it. Although I have had other cards running at the same time, but not in Cross Fire. Let me see if I can find some GPUZ shots.

ugg sorry I just noticed that those dont have the PCI info on them. And they are the only snapshots I took of my system when it had 2 cards in it. my apologies.

This is all of the info I can find that mentions my systems video information. I hope this helps. No one else has any ideas?

Should be fine? Not sure what you're asking, really, as it's already bee nmentioned it should be fine.

Is there more than TWO PCIe slots in the system? Perhaps you can pull off the side, and upload a picture we can look at?

Ok, what I wanted to know, (before I go blow money on a 2nd GPU that I might not be able to use) is if my motherboard is CrossfireX compatible. Seeing as how my MSI HD 5770 only supports CFX (with one connector) and if so, what would my set up be running @? I see a lot of people posting that their mobo's only support 1 card @ 2.0x16 and the other @ 2.0x8 or x4. I hear that 4 slows to a grinding halt. And that 16&8 are OK. (but not as good as 16x16) Basically Im very new to this side of PC gaming (the builder side) and also Im honestly very $ limited. ( I have a lil boy He's the #1 priority) So I just want to do things right. If this fails, Im going to have to buy a mobo for my QX9650.

OK, looks like yes, you have x6 and x16 slots. the black slot at the top is the x4 slot.

Or, it might be x8 in the top slot, x8 in the bottom slot, and x16 in the middle.

Anyway, based on the info you gave, yes, it should work, but I am not 100% that it will. Becuase you say it showed Crossfire option in the CCC when you had the second card(although it didn't work right), that is a very good indicator that you should not have any problems.

A x16/x4 setup is only slow in certain apps(mostly dx10/dx11) and x16/x8 there's virtually no loss.

Alright! Im glad to hear it from more than one person. Just makes me feel better. And yes the tiny black slot is the x8 wired as x4. The blue and black PCIe slots read 2.0x16 .

The trouble I had was that the ASUS card was garbage used crap I got burned on. (buying) So now I getto start the hunting for another Frozor II !

And to think, I just blew that $ on a Nostromo today. Time to sell

Thank you for your time good sir.
