Mozilla accepts Microsofts help for developing Windows Vista friendly software.
What was once a possible conspiracy theory or possible spam is now an official partnership between Mozilla and Microsoft in the development of a Vista-friendly Firefox and Thunderbird. One of Vista's many new features, which allows all program defaults to be controlled in one control panel instead of the individual programs, could cause issues with Firefox, and Microsoft wanted to ensure that there would be no difficulties. Microsoft also wants to be sure that internet browsers that are not Internet Explorer will work in Microsoft Live.

Not surprised, Microsoft always likes to "aquire" its competition thanks to its inability to actually compete lol
*Quickly makes hundreds of backups of current versions of firefox as he knows he'll lose most of them*

Microsoft didn't buy Firefox. They are probably just letting firefox see the source codes for windows live or something so it can be fully compatable and no bullshit issues come up

we know they havent bought firefox but I wouldn't be surprised if microsoft makes mozilla include a few "goodies" as "payment" for allowing them to develop their apps.
Face it nothing with microsoft is free, not that I'm saying all thier products suck coz they don't (in all honesty). I can't see why it would make business sense either. Firefox and Thunderbird are rival programs to microsofts own internet explorer and outlook, and imo are far far better, why would helping them to make thier rival product even better then their own. Then again maybe somehow it makes sense, I dunno thats why I study computing science and not business.

na its because of anti-trust laws or something like that. They had a lot of issues with shit and stuff like that like microsoft would intentionally break rival programs so this is just for a "gold star" for their company

1.) FrontPage 2.) Visio 3.) SQLServer (well, sort of here, they co-worked on it w/ Sybase) 4.) The Windows AntiVirus in Win3.x/9x was Symantec codebase licensing iirc 5.) The Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003 defragger is licensed Executive Software Diskeeper stuff (& extended in a way, since the MoveFile API was worked on w/ Diskeeper code, so they no longer had to patch certain critical files in the core of the OS anymore, as they had to in Windows NT 3.51 & below when Diskeeper was applied). 6.) IE is a MOSAIC base 7.) Tcp/IP in Windows is largely FreeBSD (great choice by the way here on this one) based. (& the list probably goes on far longer, these are just ones I can immediately recall). ![]() * Doesn't matter to me HOW they do it, the ends justify the means & WE AS CONSUMERS REAP THE BENNIES/REWARDS, imo @ least! APK P.S.=> FireFox would probably make a BETTER IE, than IE, in some capacities (the public internet) BUT, IE rocks for Intranet development, hands-down, the BEST here... apk |
