Funny how most improvements are for older cards. I guess Nvidia wants you to buy those more since gtx 680 seems to be hard to find, although I found mine at local frys and it was the only card sitting on the shelf.

Thanks for the heads up and the links, will download it when I get home.
Nice to see a lot of tweaks for previous gen cards, you rarely ever see that with new driver releases

Yeah...and why would would these not also affect GTX 480 and such? Isn't it essentially the same architecture?

I normally wait for the WHQL version, but I'm really keen on this one, so I'm installing it now. The Adaptive Vsync and frame rate limiter features I'm really interested in. It's not good to have the video card thrashing away at 1000fps+ when running an old game in a window, even for a short while.

. And yeah, adaptive vsync and fxaa can be enabled. I get some tearing on adaptive vsync with games capped at 60fps though (running on a 120hz monitor) which is pretty weird.

Uh, no. It says all the changes in terms of performance affect 4xx and 5xx series cards (Fermi) but 6xx series cards are Kepler, which while being similar, is a new architecture. Kepler is like the athlete the chubby middle school kid named Fermi wishes he was.

after install this driver, not fresh install. I got like 0-1 fps in BF3. Not sure what happened. I think I need fresh installation.

The next step should be allowing Adaptic Vsync based on monitor refresh rate instead of just statically at 60Hz. 120hz Monitors are making a big push in the coming years--with the advent of 3D--and it would be silly to not allow something like that.

I thought it was based on your actual refresh rate.

Ok, fair enough, lol.
Tell you what, it works with a 60Hz monitor too. I just tried playing Unreal Tournament (the original one released in 1999) which would normally render at 800fps+ and it was capped at a solid 30fps! The game was horribly laggy and full of judder, as you might expect. It was ironically funny to see a modern, high spec PC like mine achieve a crappy 30fps on this old game!

I was talking about 480 and 580 being the "same"; nothing about 680. And as you say "Fermi" and not just 5xx like in OP above then great--that answers my question and addresses my confusion.

Turning vsync on in game? Afaik, the nvcp overrides the vsync option in the software.. played Rage (which was capped at 60fps), and I was having screen tearing even though fraps still reported 60fps. Sonic Generations as well exhibited the same symptom with adaptive vsync on. I'd like to see what result you get though..
