DVI Cable or VGA Cable?

Hi,

Please help. I am using LCD flat panel display. It have DVI Port and VGA Port. The VGA Card also have DVI output and VGA output.

Is there any good to use DVI cable than VGA cable? Is there any visible view in using DVI cable? Faster VGA Card operation maybe?

Anyone can help to explain?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,
Arto.

i'm no expert but i believe the dvi cable would only make a difference when watching high resolution dvd movies n such things. no actual game performance increase i think.

Well DVI is digital, VGA is analog, the videocard is digital, as is the screen.
So think about what happens to the signal. With standard VGA the signal would go from digital to analog and in the screen back to digital. With DVI the signal stays digital. Guess what causes quality loss? Is it noticable? I doubt it, still go with DVI

dvi is much better signal quality in higher resolutions .. on the other hand it can only send 60 fps, but your lcd usually cant do more than 60 hz anyways .. so dvi it is

Finally I got a bargain price for DVI cable. Cheapest in town :-)
The result:
- No visible different with VGA cable so far. But I feel "better" since digital direct go to LCD without convertion digital to analog and back analog to digital again.
- My PCI 802.11g card produce more signal than before. This is because the VGA card's DVI port located below VGA port. So much clearance for antena :-)

Best regards,
Arto

I've got a CRT monitor that takes VGA and DVI in too, but I have yet to find a decent price and short enough cable for DVI.
