Is it my graphics card or something else
So I'm playing diablo3 and my monitor goes to sleep. My graphics card fan goes in to high gear and I cant get any signal for my monitor. Sometimes there is a buzzing noise also. I have to restart to computer to be able to do anything again. I looked at my logs to see what the heat got to and the highest was only 51 cel. There is some dust in the card but nothing is blocked. I have plenty of fans(7). Its a radeon hd 6850 card. Had the card for about a year now. This problem started last week and is getting worse. The issue can happen on loading a game or after playing for a few hours. My specs are
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.110622-1506) System Manufacturer: HP-Pavilion System Model: AY747AA-ABA p6310y BIOS: BIOS Date: 11/12/09 14:45:05 Ver: 5.13 Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 630 Processor (4 CPUs), ~2.8GHz Memory: 6144MB RAM Available OS Memory: 6144MB RAM Windows Dir: C:\Windows DirectX Version: DirectX 11 Card name: AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series Manufacturer: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. Where was the noise coming from? The monitor or the card? Are those temps for the CPU or GPU?
I think the problem might be your card... I'm guessing a bad overclock, overheating, or an electrical short (you may also want to test voltages of it PSU) |

I reckon it's your PSU - those big-name prebuilt boxes don't tend to come with very powerful PSUs and they're certainly not made to enthusiast grade standards.
What is its power rating?

Overheating seems to be the most probable issue here.

It's probably PSU, since it only occurs playing games. It probably has a 350w psu which is near not enough. Tell us the model or the psu the case has. Open the side of the case.

I have a 600 watt psu and its not the card. I put a new card in and had the same issue. I'm thinking there may be something wrong with my motherboard. At this point I really don't know. I wasn't overclocking the card at all. The noises come from the case somewhere.

The original PSU in that system was a 300 watt.
You changed the PSU then? What make and model? Try removing driver and re-installing. Check your administrative events to see what is going on when it goes to sleep. Any warnings or errors? Dis-able sleep and hiberbation, then try it. Re-set the CMOS. OCing anything? Like has been said before... locate the buzzing noise. Might give you a clue. Thats pretty much a heat issue. Blow out your entire system. And not just with those duster cans. They really don't have the "oomph" needed to properly clean all dust from your computer.
I'm a a carpenter so i have a air compressor at hand and use it to blow out my system every couple months or so. It's amazing the amount of dust that can collect in a computer over a short period of time.
